Pina Colada without consequences
I have many a perfume in my collection that I don't want to keep permanently, but which is one of several alternatives to the same theme. One of them is Sunrise Beach by Berdoues. It's about a delicious Caribbean summer gourmand that fulfils all dreamy desires for white beaches, palm trees, turquoise-blue water and a creamy pina colada in a hammock.
The fragrance starts off enormously fruity; the indicated notes immediately merge into an intense impression of pineapple and coconut. Pina Colada even, creamy-sweet and fruity-exotic. Tangerine and lime in combination with coconut create this note, which I perceive as pineapple, and yet they can also be perceived separately. Above all, however, the overall impression, the interplay that makes up the top note, is very important. And this impression does not change until the fragrance has completely disappeared after about four hours.
This means: there is a wonderful, exotic top note. There's no change in the fragrance. There is a rather weak durability. And finally, there is a weak sillage - nobody has ever noticed the four sprayers I applied of this fragrance shortly before, on many days with many different people.
So it's basically a fragrance for daydreams and would therefore be best suited for the winter, when you just can't stand the grey, wet and cold weather anymore, have a few hours for yourself on the sofa and surf through the travel offers of the Caribbean and South Seas. A private fragrance that you enjoy alone, that keeps its promises, doesn't change at all and disappears again at the end of your daydream without bothering you for too long.
Because I find this unchanging pineapple note a little bit annoying. There's something artificial about it that I don't really need all day. The use for this fragrance, the winter, is therefore clarified once and for all, in my opinion.
Similar in the cocktail effect, very, very similar in the fragrance, just as quickly evaporated and also without any noteworthy development are presented by Berdoue's "Bondi Beach", which is also recommended for layering with "Sunrise Beach", but which is really similar to it despite apparently different notes, as well as "Sunny Seaside of Zanzibar" from 4711, which is really suitable for the in-between-rain-flee-refresh-splash. For a really exciting South Sea or Caribbean gourmand - and I absolutely need a fragrance like this from time to time in summer - I will in future use Simone Andreoli's "Leisure in Paradise", which I greatly admire. The fruity notes here are a little different, but just as delicious, if not more so. And what's wonderful is that there is a long, exciting development from fruit to sweet, fine vanilla to wonderfully dry beach woods. This will be my only Caribbean gourmand in the future. And "Sunrise Beach" will be used up in these last days of summer - after all, Berdoues only offers the fragrance in 30 ml bottles
