For a long time I have been sneaking around this brand, never had the need to test anything of it, let alone buy anything. Maybe it's also due to the lack of availability, since you can get a lot of things in Würzburg in the niche sector, but not this brand, as far as I know. Well, as mentioned, we are in Würzburg where even the premium stores have less to offer than a well-stocked Douglas in major cities like Cologne, Hamburg, Berlin or Munich. The question arises whether this lack is only due to the middle province or to the quality. Or the snobby price structure. Where in my opinion an Amouage is still worth its 150-200 Euros, I see black here. During the days, I took a completely unbiased look at the sample, expecting that it could be something, whereby my expectations moved in the middle range with a tendency upwards. All right, there he was, my first Boadicea
Surely we have felt here for the 10,000th time that we are dealing with the long and well suffered Oud-Rose-combination, but unfortunately one does not notice much of it.
Let's get to the ingredients listed:
I only smell peach on a bed of musk, and unfortunately it is a squeaky sweet peach, which despite the presence of the top note lasts for a long time, and with time really annoying. Rose and cinnamon are at best homeopathically present, and of the orange and the neroli there is nothing at all in my opinion, and I mean really nothing to notice. Not to mention the oud. I didn't expect an oud-cracker here that is difficult to tap, but this complete lack of scent is a bad joke.
By the way, I think the subject is totally missed here. What is said to be wicked about this scent will not be revealed to me in 1000 years. At least another name could have been given to it, since potential customers could be completely misled in a blind purchase.
When I then had to read that a colleague called the candidate possibly the best Boadicea, I was completely finished. After the test I really hoped they could do more than just a snoring scent. And against the background of what is offered to me here, I completely lack the understanding for prices of this brand, which are without shame in the range of double of a largely justified Amouage.
Since the makers of this creation/creations are probably more interested in the snobbish price structure and a sophisticated image than in real quality, leaving this brand out seems to me, at least for me, not to represent a real loss
I would also like to make a small cross-reference to the Roja brand. I don't know any of them, but I'd like to keep it that way. I'll gladly be proven wrong (I have no hope), but what can I expect from a brand that feels that for the 150th time the base notes are always the same, and that the top note is just being tweaked a bit. An outrageous 1000 Euros are not worth that to me, even if I would suffocate in money.
