Seductive, unique but doesn't last long enough like many Calvin Kleins
Calvin Klein’s Dark Obsession is seductive and dark. I do get some citrus at the top for 15 seconds and then disappears quickly. Then I get the wormwood, vanilla, guarana (a little fruity and spicy), and spice from the Clary sage. I don’t get fir or vetiver. The dry down is sweet and cola-like and is also aromatic (makes me smile when I smell it on myself). I’m not sure how to explain it. It’s almost like one reviewer stated “a vanilla cola vibe”, and there’s something almost “paper” like, or “play dough” like in the dry down and it smells great. I think this could be the laudanum that anchors the fragrance? No surprise though... no longevity. Gone in 2-3 hours. The other thing about this, as well as the last Calvin Klein I reviewed (Reveal), is that on the “far dry down” the fragrance smells like Final Net hairspray as if Coty is using a really cheap fixative? If this fragrance lasted longer, and didn’t have the cheap smell at the end (and you will get that smell with other cheapies too like Cremo); this would have been a fragrance I would have purchased again and again. I will wear it and won’t give this one away, and once it’s gone it’s gone. 6 / 10 for me. Could have been so great! Coty missed the mark on this one.
