Heaven is one of the few older Chopards I hadn't commented on before. Why did I not dare? Well, with this fragrance I have a hard time, especially when it comes to rating.

When it was launched in 1994, I was dating my first great love and I was 17. I wore Casmir almost exclusively at the time, and since it blew my boyfriend away at the time, he also became curious about this men's fragrance, of which he found a sample in a magazine. Actually, he wore no perfume, but Heaven had it and so my mother gave him a small bottle.
Heaven is not aquatic to my nose, as it likes to be described here. I always found it to be a crossover between warm, aromatic scents and the usually rather austere fougères, as this one was also marked by a lavender note. Basically, fragrance-wise, Heaven has almost everything that Ms Polly likes. Bergamot in the opening, jasmine in the heart and musk in the base. The musk note is absolutely delicious. It makes it soft, delicate and cuddly, but despite all the fluff, this Chopard always retains a teeny bit of edge because of the lavender. It never drifts into the too sweet or trivial. I find the comparisons to Joop's Nightflight, which a later great love of mine wore, hard to follow. Nightflight, for me, is primarily fresh and woody. I don't see an aquatic in that one either. But Heaven is neither classically fresh nor woody, I think. It's just a really nice crossover. Period.

Unfortunately, my childhood sweetheart almost never wore it. If he did once, I was literally glued to his neck like a licked stamp. That's how infatuated I was with this glorious scent.
A few years later, this was over and I went on vacation with my parents, as almost every summer. Along for the ride, as they did almost every year, were my uncle and aunt and their three children. When the subject of fragrances came up, my usually somewhat cheeky aunt proudly announced that my uncle was currently wearing the wonderful Heaven by Chopard. I had admittedly noticed a lovely scent on him, but was it actually the same perfume that had previously knocked my socks off on another wearer? Honestly? No. The scent was still beautiful, sure, but it wasn't a 10 anymore, it was maybe an 8. And that's exactly why I don't really know what grade to give this discontinued treasure. I think an 8.5 is fair. But Heaven proved to me at a young age that it's never the scent alone that gives you a broadside, it's always the wearer that plays a certain role. I know I'm negating a lot of dreams here, because as beautiful as a scent is perceived to be, the ultimate kick is ultimately provided by - ONLY the wearer. So sorry....

Despite everything, I miss this Heaven. He had, by the way, like the Vintage-Casmir also, a fabulous durability. With 2-3 sprays, you could linger in Heaven for a whole day. I understand why some spend a lot of money on this vintage treasure.

ScentPhantom: An Obituary
As you probably all have noticed - at least those of you who knew him here - our dear Carsten aka "ScentPhantom" is no longer active at Parfumo. It's true, he actually logged out and deleted his profile. Yesterday I wrote with him - quasi at the last minute - and he just told me that he would log out and that you can still write via mail. After the "why" I didn't ask him, that's not important. The important thing is that one of the most attentive perfumers has left the community. One who appreciated almost every comment and statement. And by that I mean appreciating in an all-round positive sense. He or she has always confirmed the author positively in the description of the fragrance and if only very professionally criticized. A way, as it is unfortunately not to be found with everyone here. He also always knew his way around analyzing scents, as his great comments testified. For these reasons I am really very sad that he is no longer here and contributes with his positive nature to the high level of this site. Hence this obituary, which is deliberately dedicated to one of his favourite scents, the "Heaven".

++++++++++++++Heaven++++++++++++++++
Rightly he once dedicated a very affectionate comment to him, which also prompted me to rehearse. We are dealing here with a fresh scent, which fortunately does not drift fully into the aquatic. You can also recognize the signature of the past 90s and whoever smells it will immediately notice that it no longer seems quite contemporary. Nevertheless it is unbelievably beautiful, the "Heaven". It has something very own and really seems to be removed from the world and belongs to the sky. It also seems a little bit sweaty, yet not unpleasant. This is mainly due to the flowery notes, which give the fragrance a special note. Consequently, it is rather flowery and fresh than aquatic. It belongs - like Versaces "Dreamer" - to the series of fragrances that invite you to dream and are more suitable for private use. Lying nicely on the sofa and letting your thoughts fly. High up to the heavenly angelic choirs. Sounds pompous, but matches the fragrance! All those who expect a modern or tyoically fresh scent here will be very disappointed and might turn up their nose, so be careful when testing and read the other great comments thoroughly before!
If I press send right away, it would normally not take 10 minutes and I would have a comment from Carsten to read below. Probably he would have written something like: "an excellent scent, which you described lively and fittingly in your comment!" Or he would have added something suitable - something missing from my description, of course polite and non-determining or even boorishly contradicting.

I think there will be some others who will also miss him very much and would be happy to read something from him again. Maybe he will come back, if not, we can learn from him. Learn to treat each other with respect. Not always to insist on one's own right and not always to be of the opinion that one can best understand and describe the fragrance. We can learn that everyone here has a subjective perception, which the scents together make more and more accessible. We should respect this - as he always did - and see it as enrichment.

In any case, I am happy to have experienced and learned a lot through Carsten and I am also very grateful for this heavenly scent tip!

Have a nice evening nice dreams

"I Am in Heaven"; "I Am in Heaven"...

It's 1994..
The sun is burning and ...
the return trip in the school bus..
My cousin , he used at that time always like times a few fragrances of his father , sat down next to me and I asked him , which perfume he took today ! He said to me only: how is that called up there in English?
Since then I was addicted to the fragrance , he rather the Le male ...

this fresh airy hollow metallic and slightly rubbery what lies in the air, after which in the prelude the bergamot says goodbye, is still untouched and unmatched! The Fahrenheit has this similar vibe after the drydown and so it came that these two fragrances of or from 1994! A part of my life became. accompany me also today still! I still have an original heaven Vintage , bottle 100ml which is not tilted , about 3/4 full is already stored almost scientifically ... but one thing I swore to myself !!!
Should I ever marry , with the right woman ... I wear no Aventus and co ! No but my Heaven .
It is and was my signature fragrance earlier for warmer days !
There is no !!! Really no fragrance that can replace this one .
I hope , sometime and somewhere ... there is a remake of the classic , trimmed to modern as it is with the cars ....
How he comes nowadays, if I wear it once?! He brings me the most compliments, because he is just so unique. One smells such a thing today no more and ladies who know him, fall directly into passion and positive memories of this fragrance. Only the original is the only true real Heaven

Olfactory memory
I guess one of the reasons a perfume is liked is memory. But why did I like Heaven so much in the 90s, it was one of my first fragrances that captivated me. Unfortunately, I can't answer that question exactly. But what I can answer exactly is what the scent reminds me of today. 90s, booming basses, electronic sounds and simply a great time to which I feel transported back with this fragrance. It's all the sadder that Heaven is no longer around. The legend that always accompanied me. An Aquate that has no equal, which is of course always a subjective impression with fragrances and my scent memory makes its appropriate contribution. For me simply THE classic. It is the combination of fresh / floral and a certain sweetness of tonka bean that make the fragrance what it is. A summer all-rounder that got me a bunch of compliments at the time, even during my training at the office. Thank you Monsieur Almairac for the companion, which at least for me, has fit into this time like no other fragrance.

Rightly an icon
Since aquatics are often no-brainer for me, according to the motto "Shower gel-like smell always works somehow (if it is beautifully made)", I am always very sensitive when an aquate gets special praise here. Because then he often has something special to offer, which makes him too much more than just a freshness kick.

Among many reasons why you can find a fragrance especially good, it is in the case of this one I think that it somehow... is iconic. It has such a balanced spiciness interwoven with the freshness that runs across the layers of fragrance (rosewood, cedar, lavender, I would say) that it is a kind of "standard". Like maybe Cool Water, just more puristic and bitter, Cool Waters could be predecessor. Somehow *the* man scent.

Yes, fresh-spicy, classic but not barbershop... more so a clear generation later, something my dad would have worn casually with a three-day beard. :)
What you really have to give credit to the fragrance is that it has aged quite well. It is still very wearable today, I think if you wear it nowadays, it feels a bit like wearing Fierce. Only where Fierce comes along like a young man in a checkered Hipster woodcutter shirt (politically correct, I am a Hipster myself and a dear Fierce...), Heaven is his father - who is actually a woodcutter and has a firm grip!

I don't know why this is all about fathers all the time haha... :D But it just fits. And no, my father's not a lumberjack. P

The fragrance reminds me most of Creeds "Viking", Burberry's "Burberry for Men (Eau de Toilette)". On the re-test, the memory of Viking was more similar than the scent itself now...but I find Burberry amazingly close in the drydown,- but less aquatic.

Funnily enough, I don't find the name soooo fitting here... the sky I imagine is softer, it comes over more like a rocker just climbing from the Harley Davidson and knocking at the sky gates to see if the bar is open. ;P

Sillage is very good but not "Terminator grades". Shelf life okay.

damn what an awesome fougere. Clean and crisp without smelling too oldschool. Nice airy lavender lightened up with citruses. Thumbs up

A '90s unordinary scent, men's but floral. The scent for hedonists, this is not kind of scent to please the crowd, just to enjoy yourself.
