A Spicy Ginger-Lemon Tea
This is one of the latest fragrances released by the COMIN brand, which is quite famous in Italy for making fragrances equivalent to famous trademarks. Of course, few notes might be slightly different or missing at all, yet the overall scent is very similar if not identical to the original one.
Retrò belongs to the citrus-woody-aromatic family and its composition puts together the coldness of citrus with the warmth of spices. It is a sort of modern cologne, intense, elegant and classic.
As soon as I sprayed it on my wrist I got a fresh and great opening of citrus matter like a cup of Twinings lemon & ginger based spicy tea. Then, cardamom and pungent taste of ginger start rising as the dominating top notes, with a shadow of neroli in the background.
After few minutes I noticed a striking similitude between this scent and the Bvlgari Blv. I thought it was the ginger note, hence I checked the perfumer and discovered that the nose is Alberto Morillas, the same author of both the fragrances. Gotcha! That confirmed the similitude, they are sons of the same father!
As time goes by, it develops into a dim side and turns into a woody, smoky, even a very bit leathery accords like the soft leather Nappa, and a light patchouli in there. I got a spot of smokiness, which should come from the guaiac wood and benzoin.
Well, there are some notes that my nose did not perceive at all like the myrtle, artemisia, and musk... I mean, the musk might be a mild one and not like Narciso Rodriquez for him (animalic) or Musk Alyssa Ashley (powdery)... Maybe I need to wear it some more times for getting all of the shades.
I recommend Retrò for warmer temperature but even in the cooler months like spring and fall, better during the day and perfect for work. On my skin, longevity and sillage are quite good for 5-6 hours, not sure how far from the skin other people might get it, definitely, the sillage is not obnoxious. Ultimately, the clean juice is bottled into a fully transparent glass with a see-through cap. In my opinion it 8/10... it is worth it to try and get it!!!
Oops... I was forgetting to mention that this scent is supposed to be an equivalent of Acqua di Parma Colonia Intensa!
I look forward to giving you the next review.
