Sweet green, which is more "white
On this skin Calamus is a milky scent. Opening with a fresh cucumber note, beyond the unfortunately much too short Angelica soaked pencil sharpener phase, it becomes, briefly paprika-honey-sweet, a soft, light powdery and sweet green, which is rather "white". A warm white, very round and clean.
Reminiscent of the first vanilla seconds of a white TicTac (before it gets minty), almost gourmand and then indefinitely floral. Complex but not complicated.
Well carried by loud characters who practice mimicry of loveliness. Strategic. Innocent. Benevolently, Calamus smells slightly of fresh calamus. It has less to do with calamus root and its wild, daring qualities.
As a young person I worked with calamus extracts, preparations and tinctures. Because of its bitter substances, its hallucinogenic effect and its aphrodisiacal! Properties that Calamus olfactorically does not evoke. Except for the transience. Calamus shares this with the effects of its namesake.

Out in the country
Mr Lü bought a house in the middle of the bamboo forest. The access was a bit difficult, the area was under nature protection. But he just wanted to get out into the country. When the wind blows through the thin bamboo trunks, they rattle against each other. As if the wind was a tireless percussionist playing free jazz. During the day the light falls very beautifully through the green waving bamboo trunks. At the crowns the green is much brighter, shiny yellow-green and further down it becomes pastel. Behind the house Mr Lü has a small pond where calamus grows. Sometimes Mr Lü rubs the calamus stems and then sniffs his fingers. It smells green. Green like the light in the bamboo forest. In Chinese medicine, calamus is used against phlegm. Whatever that means. Mr. Lü is a pretty quiet guy. In Vedic mythology, Calamus reduces the wind god (Vata). I don't know what that means either. ("Mr Lü, I am your Vata!" *snorkel snorkel*) Mr Lü laughs softly and goes into the house to make some celery soup.

Series 1: Leaves - Calamus is the first Comme des Garçons ("Like the Boys") fragrance that I like. I am amazed and delighted. Calamus doesn't stay on top of me for very long. After four hours I have to go into the house and cook celery soup or watch a YouTube video with white noise from the bamboo forest. Calamus is something for the warmer half of the year. Maybe it will last a touch longer. As a sport, golf is a good choice. You can become one with the lawn and then shoot the ball through the imaginary bamboo stalks. Every garden looks greener when the owner wears Calamus. You can certainly upgrade your celery soup with it. Actually, there is hardly any occasion for which Calamus does not fit.
