Chic freshie

According to Creed's description, Aventus is supposed to be the fusion of the archetype of a pithy hero with the heroes of everyday life in a coat and tie. So far, so good. Even if I don't necessarily see myself in the role of an "alpha male", I really like the composition for the perfumer's 250th anniversary. I can even say that, with Aventus, I have found a fragrance that I really like to smell myself in.
When you spray it on, it's like opening a bag of jelly babies, in fact one of them reveals quite similar flavors. The pineapple is particularly striking for me, but it doesn't seem artificial despite the high exotic factor. I can also smell citrusy fresh apple à la Granny Smith. A spritz on the shirt or T-shirt preserves these haribo notes a little longer.
After an hour, the fresh fruits fade into the background and a pleasant spicy sweetness comes to the fore, I assume patchouli in a juniper blend...? I think of sun-dried Mediterranean earth, others perhaps of the smell of heroism in a Roman arena, in any case this is not just any nectar, but a delicate hint of audacity that wafts around you.
I find the fragrance lasts a relatively long time, unless you're out and about on your bike and sweat everything out of your pores again ;-)
In any case, after a few hours I can still smell soft animal notes (and I love oakmoss) and even a few of the initial fruity notes are still gently embedded in it.
For me, Aventus is a fine, ultimately classic chypre fragrance, an English eternally young gentleman that accompanies me in my everyday life and that I like to put on myself (and those around me) at any time.

The one that started it all...

It's winter 2020 and my brother shows me a "perfume".

Wow, that smells good, what is that?
Before, I always used fragrances such as The Scent for Him Eau de Toilette or Hugo Eau de Toilette.
"That's Aventus!", great fragrance, isn't it?
I took the bottle and sprayed 2-3 times on my arm.

From then on, everything took its course!
Unfortunately, I didn't know how much this "Aventus" cost at the time.

230€ for 100ml - phew, quite a lot of money, but the fragrance is awesome.

I unpacked the fragrance, sprayed it on and fell in love with this DNA!
The Aventus 10th Anniversary was released, I bought the fragrance blind.
The fragrance arrived, I sprayed it on: Disappointment set in!
This is not "my" Aventus... I started reading and found different "batches".

Everyone here knows the discussion and yes, I have to say: my favorite is 19u11!

Luckily I was able to get two bottles of it, one is still in the cupboard with almost 98ml, the other I used again this morning. Yum!

A good 3 years later, I have tested countless fragrances, have over 20 perfumes in my collection and have to say:
It's an expensive but very, very cool hobby!

And the community here is great. It has never been easier to get new fragrances, test fragrances or swap fragrances.

Unfortunately, the nearest store selling niche fragrances is just over 60 km away in Oldenburg. Really good stores can only be found in Hamburg, which is 250km away.
Every now and then we are on site and test everything that is new on the market.

I'm very excited to see what exciting releases 2024 will bring.

One thing is certain: Aventus will always remain in the collection.

P.S.: I've heard that the current batches are also good again. There's still a bit of 19u11 left. With 20 more fragrances in the collection, it will also last a little longer.

P.S.S.: My wife also loves the fragrance on me and is always happy to smell it because it was our "getting to know each other fragrance".

Uff what a board.....!

I probably don't have a noble nose and am also quite new to the perfume scene, nor do I know the old batches of Aventus and therefore can't make any comparisons BUT.... It's just great, I don't care if it's overhyped or expensive - I would buy Aventus again and again.

The start of a slightly sour/peppery pineapple together with a citrusy fresh touch is simply HAMMER!!!!

To me, it doesn't smell like a classic pineapple that has just been freshly sliced, but much more "grown-up" and masculine.

After a while, woody musk tones creep in and make Aventus the perfect companion for the warmer days of the year.

H/S with 5-7 spritzes I get through the day in the office and can still perceive it with most movements in everyday life. Even after 6-8 hours when I arrive home, it still radiates its aura, although of course not as strongly.

The hype passed me by

I have always tried to try this fragrance, but above all to like it as much as everyone else obviously does. Over the last 5 years, I've tried it on and off in various perfumeries. But now I want to do it properly for once.

The Aventus is fresh and citrusy at the beginning, but above all fruity and a little peppery. Then a pleasant pineapple is added. But there used to be a little more of that. It ends with a woody drydown and is accompanied by a subtle smokiness at the same time.
The smoke in an average summer freshie is exciting, but unfortunately I find it a little boring.

The Aventus tends to go in the masculine direction and fits particularly well in spring or summer. Admittedly, it doesn't really matter what occasion or time of day you wear it. Then it is very versatile.

The longevity and sillage are generally above average for a freshie. However, I have never understood the price of this fragrance so well. As a result, the price-performance ratio suffers enormously. It is very expensive for what it offers.

Unfortunately, I don't particularly like it, or rather it's just far too expensive and far too much in demand for what I personally consider to be an average summer fragrance for men. But you can try it out to see if you are interested in aventus-like fragrances. Then you could always buy a good dupe, in my opinion.

Oh yes, Creed Aventus. You are someone. Above all, you were always my enemy, I could never do anything with this fruity fresh shower gel cocktail, especially because every freshie tried to smell like you afterwards. Sometimes in the heart, sometimes in the base, sometimes as an overall concept. But you were always the catalyst for everything. You made it a trend. You shaped an entire generation of fragrances, you were one of "them". A star who became a role model for countless others.

And I still don't like you. When I tested you back then, you were already overwhelmingly strong. Intensely fresh, woody, fruity, still smoky somehow. You had something about you that all the imitations didn't have. That made you special, even though you were so stale. I didn't like you, but I realized that you were still something special, that you were worth it. At least for those who liked your style.

But now, with a very recent sample, you're just a shadow of what you used to be. You open with your pineapple, citrus, apples, musk, only 10% of what you did back then. You briefly remember the past, but with severe dementia.

You stick to the skin for 10 minutes, with exactly the opening, and then you're gone. As if you were an EdT from the discount store. After those 10 minutes, you have 1% of the performance you had even after 10 hours. I smell pretty much nothing on the back of my hand, poof and gone. Remnants of the top note stick to me, remnants of wood, pineapple, pepper, lemon. And with every second, 1% more disappears. After half an hour, it's almost gone. Now and then you can still perceive Aventus, a brief ray of hope, but it is gone again just as quickly.

The king has fallen, new kings reign. Rest in peace!
