Sweet memories - fairground feeling included
Since I have banned sugar from my life for several years, I am naturally happy about fragrances which, in a certain combination, are a pleasant substitute for me.
It's a good thing that sugar cannot be absorbed through the skin, and it's a good thing that Demeters/The Library of Fragrance's "Cupcake" does not contain sugar, because there is plenty of this fragrance component
However, I do not have the feeling of smelling a small delicious cake after applying the product.
With me, other moments in my head are really IMMEDIATELY triggered. And this is without any doubt my childhood
We're jumping back to 80s.
In 1985... (+/- a few years).
I, the little Berlin Steppke, was allowed to go with mum, dad and siblings to the then very popular fairground at Lützowplatz to spend a nice Sunday afternoon there.
Everywhere for me are breathtaking rides like the Wild Mouse, a ghost train, bumper cars or this (who remembers?) strange giant balloon, in which some kind of 3D movies are running and you can experience one wild virtual ride after the other.
But everything is overshadowed by this incredibly sweet and sugary scent of cotton candy, roasted almonds etc.
It is exactly this scent that draws instantaneously into my nose when I apply "Cupcake".
Cotton candy would be my most prominent feature. This is especially interesting, since Demeter has its own "Cotton Candy" fragrance in its repertoire (which I don't own yet). What does it probably smell like?
At some point, after a few minutes, I notice a vanilla-doughy smell.
This buttery dough note in particular is the hammer.
However, I have never smelt / eaten such a fragrant cupcake before.
Therefore my nose perceives rather the above mentioned cotton candy PLUS later butter in the dough.
Unfortunately, now comes my biggest criticism: The durability!
For such a "sugar monster" "Cupcake" should last longer than just one hour.
That's way too short.
At least he has a nice Sillage
If the smell were not so phenomenal, I would have to devalue the cupcake significantly.
Anyone who likes diabetes-causing sweet scents will hit the jackpot. But you have to live with the measly durability. If you have the opportunity to refill in between, you can also take a look at it here.
Otherwise, it is worthwhile to apply this cupcake to your clothes (or a neckerchief) to keep the scent present for longer.
I'm torn between recommending a buy here. Scent YES, rest...njjaarggg
