This review is for the vintage Pure Parfum

Constructed in the 1950's when women portrayed glamor, Diorissimo hits the scene & adds a lot of class to the market.

Fresh, floral & soapy are some of the words use to describe this scent. This is a heady floral concoction that screams elegance.

It is very feminine & smells of a garden filled with flowers namely Muguet. This is where I have a problem with this perfume, I realized I do not like muguet what so ever. In fact, it smells very vile to my nose.. that note ruined the entire composition for me.

I had no plans on wearing it, just for collectors purposes, but it got to the point where I didn't want to open the top to smell the fragrance. For those of you who can wear this bless you, but be aware, if you do not like muguet or have never smelled it before, TRY BEFORE YOU BUY!

When Lily of the Valley takes on a bad girl persona
Diorissimo is unquestionably a very beautiful perfume. The reformulations do not do the original creation any justice at all, so I will be reviewing the vintage:

It opens up with the delicate freshness of living Muguet, and that theme stays constant, especially with the EDT. In fact, the EDT is all about softness and innocence. But the parfum is quite a different animal.
There are two key notes in the heart of Diorissimo which are shockingly absent from the listed notes, here: Boronia and Amaryllis.
Boronia can smell either fresh and sunny as in citrusy, but it can also take on the territory marking stench of cat urine, depending on the variety used, and its degree of maturity.
Amaryllis is a distant cousin of the Lily, and it, too, has a scent that can range from fresh and sweet to blood curdling decay.

Two more notes are absent from the list and play an important role in the base: Musk and civet.
Also, the Lily of the Valley is also present in the topnotes, not just in the heart.

Now what we have is a list of essences that are all known for their depth and pungency in the world of perfumery, and that, when combined, are the reason why Diorissimo is such a polarizing fragrance:

The duo of Lily of the Valley and Ylang Ylang, in the top, gives off the initial freshness and spring like innocence of the fragrance. Simply delightful!
But on skin, the development of the heart notes brings on a whole new aspect: The Lily of the Valley stays constant but is joined by the Boronia and the Amaryllis, and that is where, for some people, the scent goes completely off kilter.
The Boronia and Amaryllis bring on the early stages of an animalic coup d'état, if you will, they are the vessels that will turn the Lily of the Valley from a good girl scent to that of a much more "experienced" woman caught in a most compromising position... and loving it.

As the fragrance lets go of its initial sweetness, a distinct jasmine note appears. Not just any jasmine, not the lilac overtones jasmine, this jasmine is jam packed with indoles to the brim, and proudly so. A perfect companion to the musk and civet, though again, to some people, it's more a ménage à trois made in hell than a match made in heaven, lol.

By the drydown, Diorissimo has thrown its good girl costume into the flames and taken on its true persona: that of a shameless, indecent seductress, corrupter of anything and anyone with a remote sense of virtue. How?
It's all in the nature of the chosen flowers in combination with the musk and civet, the resulting smell is akeen to the ladybits of a woman too busy enjoying her lascivious lifestyle to give a damn about propriety, manners or decorum: she actually likes to smell like throbbing erogenous zones, lol!

For all its prettiness and delicate initial appearance, be warned: If you wear vintage Diorissimo parfum (provided that you have the right chemistry) make sure it's not to a job interview or to meet your significant other's parents. You might be regarded as an impudent hussy and sent home to shower.

I happen to love it, personally. YES, you may judge me on that. *very big grin*
