The olfactory hand of the T-Rex
When I see women with almost white lipstick or bell bottoms, I think oakmoss and the 70s. When I see harsh contrasts in colors, large geometric patterns, and shoulder pads, I think Wummser and the 80s. When I see belly shirts, very low waist pants with thongs or tattoos peeking out, I think of the first forerunners of the gourmands that are still so successful today and the 90s. When I think of the noughties, I think of the so-called duckface, an excessive flanker culture, the self-evident liberation from fashion dictates and the increasing unisex trend. The decade of this millennium marks the beginning of what Happy Hour is perfecting here: The wholesale replacement of earlier fragrances with new, artificial molecules that not all people can perceive equally, the olfactory T-Rex hand, so to speak.

I love testing Diors, always hoping for a scent that excites me like Ambre Nuit or the old Dune. But the Diors of recent years all could not really convince me anymore, they seemed to me but always paler and dominated by the T-Rex hand of artificial fragrances. Nevertheless, I was not encouraged and exchanged Happy Hour.

I spray and - oha, there is no question of pallor! This is intense, this is extreme, this is red pepper underlaid with neat violet leaf. Extremely artificial, though fortunately notes that I don't think are bad in themselves. Miraculous only that they don't find themselves in the pyramid. Once the initial shock and intensity has subsided somewhat, I try to detect something behind this peppery violet leaf, but I don't quite want to, the wave is just too much in the foreground. After about an hour or so, I can now detect something pleasantly sweet and a hint of warmth behind the pepper that continues to dominate. In the heart note, a jasmine scent slowly and gently begins to emerge that makes me nostalgic for turn-of-the-millennium mainstreamers; it's a jasmine that seems rather soft and artificial, but thankfully not indolic in the process. Meanwhile, the pepper apparently begins to join the sweetish portion, and along with the violet leaf, awakens a tinge of anise candy in me.
Curiously, I wait for the base. I hope to discover behind the continuing dominant notes from the start perhaps a touch of cranberry or a little ylang-ylang.
Unfortunately, I do not succeed. There is some warmth added, perhaps a hint of vanilla, but as the jasmine, pepper and violet leaf fade, so do the anise candies and the entire scent until after about 6 hours it is barely perceptible and then completely evaporated.

Now was that a tease? I don't think so. I do not reject the T-Rex hand after all. It is just posed, artificial, not lifelike and thus paradoxically has something very traditional: The concealment of real feelings and the preservation of an outer appearance as it was opportune in the last century, especially among the higher ten thousand.
In this respect, this Dior has something that is otherwise attributed to Chanel: Cool restraint and the suitability for official occasions, where true feelings, spontaneity and the private must take a back seat.
In this sense, I find Happy Hour less pleasurable than the name suggests, but still surprisingly good.

Happy happy
Francois Demachy, nose of so many incredibly beautiful fragrances, has created here a I would say funny scent. Feminine, sparkling like champagne. The name, Happy Hour fits perfectly with this fragrance. Very nice, funny somehow. Not as elegant as many other perfumes from this series but wearable for many occasions. This fragrance also has something unique, I don't know exactly what it is, but I would recognize it immediately among many fragrances.

What a Difference a Day makes ...
"Twenty-four little hours
Brought the sun and the flowers
Where there used to be rain.
My yesterday was blue, dear
Today I'm part of you, dear
My lonely nights are through, dear
Since you said you were mine."

While Rod Stewart is my guest with one of his "Great American Songbooks" and I hear the above words in my ear, I notice that Christian Dior's "Happy Hour" could make such a difference.

I also have problems with the newer fragrance collections of this brand from time to time and was therefore, despite the pyramid that appeals to me so much, a bit sceptical.
But I didn't have to be this time!

For years my heart has been beating loudly and perseveringly for Ylang-Ylang and Jasmin!
Each of the two flower dreams is a beauty in itself; as a fragrance simply inspiring - if dosed correctly - and then only together: Wow!!

"Happy Hour" is a real pleasure for flower fragrance women: warm, soft, white and golden yellow fragrant!
A heavenly bubble bath at just the right temperature in beautiful surroundings - embracing and flattering!
A pleasant purr can unfortunately only be put into words moderately; so let's think about it at this point.
Cranberry gives this fragrant flower treasure a more austere appearance, making it even more attractive and wearable.

"Happy Hour" is for a cocktail aunt like me already an enticing term.
This "Happy Hour" can last 24 hours because of me, whereby the durability is simply extended by after-spraying - here possible without large fragrance breaks!

The difference between last night and tonight is already enormous by "Happy Hour" alone.
That's how we should celebrate it - the house of Christian Dior provides the right accompaniment!

Happy Hour turns into Happy Day
When I am a student, I often hear or read the two words "Happy Hour", my eyes begin to glow, my legs move faster and inevitably people look at the clock to see if one has not already missed that window of time in order to get the corresponding discounts on alcoholic beverages. As a student you have a lot of stress, you don't believe that. After all, it's all about avarice and saving wherever possible.

I can hardly speak of avarice and saving with Diors "Exklusivlingen", from whom I already learned to love the famous "Ambre Nuit". If you don't have the prices in mind, please go to the Dior page and do some research there and let the eyelids flutter.
In the case of this perfume, ambition and savings are made with the fragrances. Only three components are listed. There's cranberry, jasmine and the floral miracle cure ylang ylang. But this avarice - I would like to anticipate that much - is actually not one at all, because often a reduced scent pyramid is just the right thing. Why this is so, I would like to give you a brief explanation.

Our cheerful hour begins with a sweet floral impact, in which every scent immediately knows how to mix in. Ylang Ylang provides for its so famous sweet floridity, the cranberry responds with its somewhat sour, but nevertheless pleasant, fruity nature, while the jasmine is sweet, but at the same time slightly honeyed and thus airy to transparent. The declaration of the fragrance as "sweet-floral" fits as well as the happy hour on the student wallet.

In spite of the reduced scent, Dior's composition goes through something like a process. The slightly acidic cranberry takes on a little of the role that the iris plays in other powdery classics to evoke that powderiness. This is not such a sterile, metallic, clean, i.e. iris-heavy, but rather a typical floral, which is also accompanied by a discreet creaminess. It is a little difficult to describe this and perhaps the iris comparison, even though I have clearly worked out the differences in the scent, is not quite appropriate, but the powderiness I can not explain otherwise. It must have come from the cranberry.
So it has nothing to do with the iris and its scent. The role of the cranberry in this composition, however, is similar to that of the iris in Dior's "Homme Intense", for example, namely the leading role. That's important to know, because if you don't like the Cranberry in its essence, which is now often enough the subject of discussion, you won't really be happy with this fragrance.

With the powdery floral sweetness the course of the fragrance is also finished. The result is a beautiful, sweet, in my eyes especially light scent, which can be used all year round and flexibly, which does not disturb or arouse anywhere. Despite its declaration as a "gender-neutral" fragrance, I see it more on a woman than on a man, which of course should not prevent anyone from testing or wearing "Happy Hour". If you decide to do so, the Happy Hour will also turn into a Happy Day, because the shelf life is extremely good for such a light and floral fragrance. In addition, the dosage may be sparing, because even if this "exclusive" from Dior does not have the power to fill entire rooms, he still knows how to communicate. This flexibility, the good durability and the equally socially acceptable appearance are the decisive characteristics to speak of a possible signature scent at "Happy Hour", if you can financially cope with it, but above all want to
