A perfume for Natasha Rostova; less for Scarlet O'Hara
One can very well imagine Dior's Grand Bal with the lively, carefree, girlishly narrow Natasha Rostova; the spirited, pampered and curvy Scarlet O'Hara, also sparkling with temperament, rather less so.
For the first-mentioned novel character, the fragrance is a perfect underscore of her personality.
For the other lady of world literature I see him too gentle; for her combative and headstrong character more woods, mosses and a little bit of animalism are missing.
(To stick with the clichés.)
I fell in love with Grand Bal right away!
A charming cloud of intensely fragrant, lavishly dosed orange blossoms and bergamots buzzes exuberantly around the nose and drives away any cloudy thoughts or bad mood. I simply MUST smile and spontaneously spin around in circles a few times with light waltz steps; in front of my inner eye the big ball scene from "War and Peace".
Jasmine and sandalwood give the fresh, lively and very pleasing prelude the necessary presence to avoid disappearing into the ether as a fragrant orange tree. A little musk also remains in the composition until the end, with the orange blossoms in the now somewhat harsher olfactory direction remaining predominant. The woods give the playfully romantic, sweet, yet fresh and feminine fragrance more depth, which is shown to be perfectly arranged in the course of the fragrance.
A lively, moderately fruity, for me a dreamlike scent!
With its much lighter intensity it resembles Fleurs d'Oranger by Serge Lutens and Faubourg by Hermès. Whoever knows and loves these two will also smile at Grand Bal; especially if you are looking for a day scent in this direction, which neither has such a spectacular, heavy shelf life as Fleurs d'Oranger, nor such a refined fruity elegance as Faubourg.
For a really big ball gown he may be a little underdressed; but who has the opportunity in our days to present himself in such a gown.....
For your daily well-being and as a companion through every day, no matter how exhausting it may seem, it is also ideal for spraying and thus conjures up a winking smile on your face and in your dreams every time you use it!
