World stand still ...
Crime scene: Oberpollinger
a grinning Sweetsmell with shining eyes ...
"look what I discovered, that's great, right?" ... and as long until I had all of the Parfumotreffen in Munich the sprayed Sweetie arm under the nose held ... most found Kyoto also beautiful ;)
I would have tested the probably rather not ... Beet ... igitt! ... I do not like to eat ... can not smell good at all ;)
But it came differently ...
test me whispered the red bottle ... i am limited so do not waste time!
3 G ... (sprayed - marveled - bought!) :)

Kyoto starts berry and absolutely not vegetable (so do not be afraid of the beet!)
Earthy is the fragrance with green-woody nuances through the vetiver. Over time, it's rosy and a fine veil of incense permeates the fragrance.
Yes it is a fine rose that reveals itself to me ... but on my skin dominate red berries, earth, dust & green!
The test strip smelled much rosier ;)
I perceive Kyoto as a dull dry scent ... green but also berry red!
The base becomes woody and suddenly there is musk ... a delicate fluff ... which holds everything together!
Quiet tones ... full of harmony ... but with a staying power of just under 8 hours!
I can imagine Kyoto throughout the year.
Unisex ... yes already :)
The berry red bottle is a real eye-catcher, which comes wrapped in a cloth :)
Let yourself fall into daydreams with Kyoto ...
that can sweeten a stressful workday / everyday life really!

Conclusion:
*World stand still times ...*
Harmony of rose incense vetiver & beet :)
Green-berry-earthy-woody dry dust ...
*Daydreaming*

Sweet hug from Kyoto
I love Limited. Until there is then a favorite from a series no longer exists. Here it is dangerous, because so often I have already lost my favorites in the past at Diptyque. Especially the rosy Eau Dominotee I miss very much.
Enthusiastically I spray myself with "Kyoto" and look forward to the aura he brings.
It comes in a chic scarf and Bordeaux colors appeal to me.
In the start fresh berries, beetroot, acid and lemon. In the middle earthy berries with wood and white smoke. Never unpleasant. Very tangy, sweet-fruity and at the same time velvety cuddly incense.
Completely without muff or scratchy.
A pleasant rose base sets the end. Vegetable garden thoughts on, but also desire for a cassis cream pie.
On the whole, very nice the trip to Kyoto. Unisex, colorful and lively.
150€ for 100 ml. But as I said. Not long!

All About That Beetroot..
This fragrance is all about that beetroot accord. The rose makes it a cohesive perfume and the frankincense serves to complement the rose (as it often does in perfumery) as well as to complement the smokey quality of the vetiver with it's own smokiness. Lastly, the vetiver is here to legitimize the beetroot accord by lending it's earthy/ grassy facets to the overall composition.

Heads up: I smell suede.

The jury is still out on whether I like this or not. Something tells me this shines in the air vs sniffing it on a forearm or wrist. Not to say it smells bad doing that but sometimes you need to back up from the trees to see the beauty of the forest. If that made sense.

The quality is typical Diptyque, which is high along with their signature "je ne sais quo" smell that transfers over to all their offerings. I can't speak on longevity, yet.

Overall, it seems like a solid offering and above that: it's UNIQUE! At least I've never smelled anything like this.

I'm curious to know what you guys think..

A Clayey Rose To The Umpteenth Degree
Beetroot is a tuber that could give sensory problems to the sense of smell, very emotional issues that depend significantly on experience. Once removed from the soil and washed, the tuber still has an organic-type odour similar to the ground but more concentrated or enhanced. Besides its unique appearance, the root vegetable has a sweet and earthy taste due to a compound called geosmin produced by the plant. This substance gives off the earthy smell we all know. You know, after a storm, we smell this earthy smell coming from the ground? It is caused by a substance in the soil, in this case. So it gives this not-too-sweet vegetable a touch of sourness.

Everyone doesn't like or appreciate beetroot, which can be a polarizing tuber. Given that I like it, it has never happened to me before to come across a fragrance with this note among its ingredients. This bizarre element led me to make a blind purchase, which was a wise decision.

First, Kyoto is a fragrance with balanced incense, rose and vetiver scents. It belongs to the rosy, earthy, rooty, musky, smoky, and unconventional categories. However, as soon as I smelled Kyoto, I couldn't help but imagine something earthly, the smell of damp autumn foliage. Call it what you prefer: Frondescence, leafage, or foliage — but that's what I feel. Kyoto gives off a very intense herbaceous scent, dizzying, reminiscent of freshly picked field vegetables. There is a decadent rosy scent that overlaps the earthy, a bit sweet, a tad tart, and a hint of a floral smell. The Turkish rose emerges undaunted, slow but astonishing, bittersweet and slightly peppery. I don't remember any other perfume with this fantastic opening, an earthy rose raised to the umpteenth degree. Not outdated, not the ordinary rose, but spicy and green, a genuinely revolutionary rose. As well as being earthy, the opening also has a slightly metallic undertone. This could be due to the rose petals and beetroot tubers immediately coming to mind.

A dry incense, austere, very faint, with lemony hints, fills the heart of Kyoto. While I find the slightly clerical incense appealing, it appears airy and sober as a feather. It mixes with the rose and takes on musky tones. Bursts of incense flutter throughout Kyoto's development. But the real magic is the sweet earthiness of the beetroot; it changes everything. If you are fond of incense, this might not be what you're looking for. In this movie, it is not one of the principal actors but an extra who serves to fill the scene without dominating it. It blends seamlessly with the rose and gives the vetiver a smokier undertone.

The dry-down reveals a smooth, vegetal, grassy, and slightly astringent vetiver, only a touch. The same vetiver that we also find in the homonymous Guerlain, very fickle, is sometimes sweeter and earthy and other times more herbaceous and peppery. Towards the end, the incense floats above everything. On my skin, it begins earthier and then floral but then becomes musky and animalic, with fresh vetiver balancing the rose from becoming too overpowering. Including a tinge of white musk in the concoction would not be unreasonable.

Floral, earthy, loamy, and smoky, Kyoto is a fragrance that is very sensitive to temperature and humidity. There are a lot of changes in the scent throughout the day, which I appreciate in a perfume. This scent has a moderate projection and lasts for a long time on the skin and even more on clothing. It screams cold weather, fall, and a great day and evening scent. If it were embroidery, the beetroot would be the thread covering the warp from all the other notes.

I base the review on a bottle I have owned since October 2022.

Journey to my ancestor
My taste in perfume tends to lean towards oriental bombshells, old school, heavy, almost overwhelming scents. But I also really like complex, difficult and challenging perfumes. However, I'm a bit promiscuous when it comes to perfumes, and this one, which is totally different, won me over.

I've never smelled beetroot in a fragrance, I've tried other vegetables in perfumery, but nothing like this one. It automatically took me back to the heyday of my European ancestors, where this vegetable comes from. I immediately thought of my grandmother preparing lunch for my mother and uncles, which is curious, as none of them like beets.

The perfume gives me a delicious melancholy, even meditative. It is an introspective perfume, without anything sweet, complemented with a dry and airy incense. And with pink, lots of pink.

Its longevity is pretty cool, around 7 hours, and the projection is medium, but very noticeable. It's that aroma that you can feel again with just one movement, even after forgetting you were wearing it.

Dirtier than patchouli, beetroot is king. Absurd, unique, dry, a greenish and earthy rose, more spicy than flowery. What a blow!

Rose, with a woody note somewhere on the side. Rose+incense on the skin. I get some acidity (like a berry) but it's not overpowering.
