Great, rich amber - well balanced and nuanced.

First wearing of Dolce & Gabbana Velvet Amber Sun, part of the higher-end Velvet collection, not sold too many places. It’s a robust amber vanilla blend with a very sensible mix of sweet, smoky, balsamic, and even a little bit of animalic vibes. It’s quite deep and rich with a good amount of complexity and nuance, so I do not regard it as a great introductory amber-centric fragrance. I get the sense that great care was taken in its creation so it’s immediately one of my favorites in the genre.

I place it somewhere between the sweeter Tom Ford Amber Absolute, one of my absolute favorites, and Profumum Roma Ambra Aurea, more to the smoky/animalic side and also excellent, albeit not as great as Amber Absolute, at least to me. But the quality is great, right up there with others like MFK Grand Soir and Absolue Pour le Soi, Rania J Ambre Loup, among others.

Again, the line seems difficult to find and the only point of sale I found (for the US) is via the Dolce & Gabbana website at $310 for 100ml, in EDP Concentration, so not terribly high at just over $3 per ml, but a 100ml size only is a rather limiting option.

Overall, I love it and wish it were more accessible but am happy with a decant for now.

Amber Excellence: A masterpiece among designer fragrances

This beguiling amber fragrance takes my senses when wearing into a world of sensual sweetness and deep warmth. The heaviness of the fragrance envelops you like a gentle embrace. Despite its intensity and smokiness, the composition remains surprisingly delicate and sweet, a harmonious melange of powerful chords. A fragrance that embodies a timeless elegance and unobtrusively attracts all the attention. Definitely for lovers of intense fragrances who still want to maintain a delicate grace and not appear too loud, as the 'Ombre Nomade faction' currently does (the fragrances have nothing in common, but I hope you know what I mean by that).
The only possible improvement to this otherwise lovely scent, in my opinion, would be a slightly more present note of incense to add depth to the overall composition and make the scent a little more 'edgier'. But even with a mild incense nuance, this fragrance fascinates me every time.
The packaging is very successful, an elegant bottle that perfectly reflects the grandeur of the fragrance.
In my opinion, one of the best amber fragrances among designer labels.

You wonderful..

when I unpacked you from probably the most noble packaging I have seen so far I did not like you,
You whip one the incense worse in the face than a priest at Christmas Mass.
So much so that you remind of the Amouage Interlude. I have but already, not another so beautiful again purely in the package.

After a short time I notice but that you lie down, you will be soft and warm almost cuddly. You remind me of an evening in front of the fireplace with crème brûlée.

The incense moves into the background and a beautiful vanillig woody fragrance with good silage spreads. You enchant me and also my surroundings appreciate you.
You are a real compliments catcher .
You are much too unknown for what you deliver and make me curious about the other fragrances of the Velvet series.
You wonderful ...... directly unpacked again.

Deep and round, like a very good red wine

Velvet Amber Sun I have im
from my husband for Christmas last winter. Actually we wanted to buy the Tobacco Vanilla from Tom Ford, but that evening Velvet Amber Sun won.
It was a hard race, but if I spray it on and it makes a symbiosis with my skin, then there is security. It is like a good red wine, sensual, deep, pure pleasure and loving. When I spray this fragrance on, I feel embedded, calm and satisfied even on bad days.
Actually, I'm very wasteful with my perfumes, but I keep them like a sacred treasure. In my use it is not a fragrance for every day but special, for beautiful evenings, cosy and sensual.
The amber is very dominant at the beginning but adapts wonderfully after a short time, is cuddly, never intrusive, but deep and impressive a long lasting pleasure of the senses.
