Today I try a fragrance from the Velvet Collection by Dolce & Gabbana. This is the first time I've ever tested a fragrance from the Velvet Collection. I was quite surprised when I saw these scents in the store, because I didn't know that there are such exquisite scents from D&G as well. So I wanted to try them for some time after seeing them, but somehow I just didn't get the chance. Fortunately a sample of it fell into my hands, so that I will introduce Velvet Mimosa Bloom as the first fragrance here, which sounds like a pretty flowery affair :D
For the production of the mimosa absolute, only hand-picked (and thus probably hand-picked) mimosa leaves were used. Together with daffodils, bergamots and violets, the fragrance not only symbolizes femininity in an olfactory way, but is also reminiscent of beautiful, warm spring days in the Mediterranean region. That sounds great, doesn't it? :)
Especially for all of you who would like to be in the sun again than to freeze your ass off on cool autumn days :D ...Well,... I like it here but also in autumn and especially in winter, because as you know I'm already looking forward to Christmas and I'm busy all the time looking for decorations and great balls for the Christmas tree :D
But back to the fragrance before I still digress extremely and talk about decorations, cookies and cats with Christmas hats!
The fragrance:
The fragrance begins immediately with the mimosa, that is nice, but also short-term slightly stuffy flowery fragrances. But the stuffy is not so bad here, because the scent is a little bit "watery" at the same time, by that I mean like so often this watery-flowery scent in flower shops, where all the flowers are in water-filled pots and so everything smells like flower water or something. A nice smell, I think. In addition, the fragrance is soft, and also quite clean. In addition there is a slight tangerine note, but unfortunately here you can only recognize the tangerine if you sniff at the sprayed spot (and see it standing in the fragrance pyramid...). Then it smells like a nice, slightly bitter tangerine peel. But if you go a little further away with your nose, you only smell a general citrus note, which is nice, but you can't determine it any further.
The narcissus, on the other hand, can be easily recognised by its distinctly bitter-floral scent, as can the violets, which give the fragrance a light sweetness as well as a nice powderiness.
In the heart note, the previously mentioned stuffy note has completely disappeared again, now it smells more like this watery-floral note, along with the daffodils and slightly clean notes.
In the base it smells as usual, but from time to time you can smell a very light Neroli note. Otherwise, one still smells the most mimosa and daffodils. The sweetness of the fragrance is still there, but decreases a little bit.
The Sillage and the shelf life:
The Sillage has turned out to be above average. That means, even if it is not a firecracker, you can smell it reasonably well, at least for a short while and I think that others will smell it well on you nearby.
The shelf life is not the best, but about five hours are in it, I would say, after that it is too weak to count the remaining fragrance to the shelf life.
The bottle:
The bottle is rectangular and clear. On the front you can see a metal label or plaque with the name of the fragrance. This metal badge also gives the bottle a high-quality and noble look. Also the cylindrical lid is very nice. Between two gilded plates you can see the yellow colour of the lid,... yellow, which stands for mimosa. Everything looks beautiful. By the way, the bottle is a little reminiscent of the bottles of the Prada infusion series, which I also like very much.
Soo, I find this fragrance already once very successful, whereby I am now curious about the other Velvet fragrances and will take these into my sights in the near future. It smells high quality, by that I mean that you can't smell anything synthetic here and that the mixture with the other scents is also quite successful. Of course, the fragrance doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it smells good, and that's the main thing, as so often.
The type for me is a summery fresh fragrance for ladies who could use this fragrance as a light-hearted day fragrance, especially during the day. Hm... does the scent now remind of a warm spring day at the Mediterranean Sea as stated in the description? Hm, hard to say, I was only in the Mediterranean on summer days and I noticed more the kind of plant scents that were roasted under the glistening sun (I mean that in a positively beautiful way, that dry, meadowy scent there). But a few things can call to mind certain memories of Mediterranean places, so I say yes, he reminds a little of the Mediterranean :)
Either way, the fragrance is recommendable, even if you already know a lot of similar smelling fragrances, try it anyway, because it is simply beautiful!
Soo, and with this fragrance I know even more how mimosas really smell, because you can smell this fragrance very well here (well, if I filtered out everything else correctly or faded it out :D). I just hope that I haven't forgotten this again with the next mimosa scent :D
By the way, on the official website it is recommended not to apply the scent to freshly shaved skin. I wonder which shaved areas you mean by this :D Apart from the fact that some parts of the body are certainly unsuitable for applying a scent there, it would probably even really burn in "more sensitive" areas and cause skin irritations... Uh... then maybe the armpit? I'm not commenting on that! :D
Are the legs all that's left? But who's gonna perfume their legs? Whereas... you never know :D It's also said that the hollows of the knees are an ideal place to get perfumed, but shaving your throats is less likely... so I guess that's gonna fall away, too, hmm.... DD
