Taming the lavender
Uncommented fragrances No. 124
It's one of those things with the lavender. The pure, clear lavender scents I have put together in the "Lavender" collection on my site are often very fresh, herbaceous, green, hot, bitter, less charming or sweet. Of course, it is this character that most people appreciate most about lavender, and yet many commentaries also point to gentler, milder variations that are often particularly appreciated. This is partly due to the processing, the growing area, the variety or the composition of the fragrance. However, if lavender is too strongly integrated into other tones, it quickly sinks and can only be perceived as a hunch, for example in many men's fragrances of the 90s, where it was at best responsible for the fresh top note of the first few minutes before disappearing under a cloud of musk, tonka, woods and synthetics. The same applies to the combination with other dominant notes.
A composition that combines lavender with tuberose does not really suggest anything good, because tuberose usually dominates fragrances. As much as I appreciate this flower, as much it usually leaves its mark on a scent. It is immediately identifiable, unique, powerful and long-lasting.
That this is not the case with Dr. Taffis Acqua the Bolgheri (AdB is a promising series of the brand) Lavanda Eterea, but a good balance is manufactured, with which the lavender even the smell impression coins, is a small compositional master achievement, which is actually exciting at this smell.
In the top note, lavender can be felt first of all, even if a different accent creeps in at the beginning. After a while the tuberose is noticeable, but never completely outshines the clear, pure scent of lavender. The other scents may be present, but are never really isolatable. Fortunately, this also applies to vanilla, which I initially feared would have a sweet, creamy, gourmand note. The herbs don't add a tart accent either, but round off the overall impression at best. It remains with the harmonious interplay of lavender and tuberose: quite ethereal and light, almost fairylike, but never only feminine, but also well wearable for men in my opinion.
An emphatic recommendation for all those who still want to roam through the cosmos of lavender fragrances and are curious about unconventional, unusual compositions.
