And Aventus can please me after all....
Everyone knows the hype about Aventus and the discussions about different batches. The new ones are nothing, the old ones would have been really good. Sometimes they are smokier, sometimes fruity, sometimes long-lasting, sometimes quickly fading. But what does that actually mean in practice? And the most important question: Do I like it?

After trying goes over study, so I got me a bottle of Aventus. It was a 2019 batch, which was considered quite fruity. I started the scent tasting. Pineapple I can smell that right out. Smoky? Can't detect that. Birch you hear more often. Hmm, not so much. And do you like it? It's not bad, but this is that "legendary" Aventus everyone's talking about? I was disappointed.

But I wasn't going to give up on the topic that quickly. This is just a batch, after all. Maybe there is something to the discussion. I got me other, older bottlings, especially also smoky. And sure enough, they smelled different. I would even say completely different. The pineapple was still noticeable, but the smoky smell really came to the fore. It didn't make it any more pleasant for me though. But I could now at least understand the spectrum from fruity to smoky. Unfortunately, this was not the case with the birch. This I smelled further not. In sum, though, I didn't find a version that I thought justified the hype around this fragrance. Aventus was thus stored in the category "Nice to have" but no "Essential".

Cut.

Spring 2021.Why are there actually so many fragrances from Dua Fragrances offered in the Souk? Doesn't ring a bell. A question that might be worth investigating. So I studied threads in the forum, read reviews and statements about the fragrances, studied the website. I read about the revival of discontinued fragrances. About replicas of current fragrances with improved durability. About the replicated fragrances being very accurate. Interesting. One could test that! An order was quickly placed, and despite delivery from the USA, several bottles of Dua arrived at my doorstep after just one week. Among them: Poseidon's Elixir 11Z.

Poseidon's Elixir 11Z. Modeled after the 2011 Z01 batch from Aventus. So a really early release from the year after it was released. As early as I've been able to get any bottling so far. The website talks about an opening with masculine birch. Of a smoke haze and, of course, pineapple.

For the first test, I picked a day to spend time both indoors and outdoors. I sprayed on three sprays - both wrists and the back of my neck. And I became aware of two things:
1. So this is what birch smells like.
2. Lots of birch, paired with some pineapple, rounded out by really just a hint of smoke - that smells really good!
The woody birch actually gives the fragrance a pleasant masculine character. This is successfully contrasted by the fruity pineapple. This makes the fragrance fresher and suitable for the masses. The smokiness still gives it some maturity, but doesn't dominate like other batches. A versatile fragrance, quite usable as a signature scent. He fits in the leisure as well as in the office. For the latter, however, I would recommend a maximum of 2 sprays, as projection and longevity are very strong. The morning after wearing it, I still clearly heard it on my wrists. I had to wash it off to be ready for a new scent. And even that only helped to a certain extent, I still perceived it in one spot in the afternoon.

So Dua managed to do what Creed couldn't: I like Aventus now! At least if you believe Dua's claims. After all, I've never smelled a true 2011 batch of Aventus. Poseidon's Elixir 11Z definitely appeals, though. A scent I want to smell over and over again, plus a monster performance, and maybe a very tiny bit of satisfaction at being able to somewhat understand the hype after all.

Finally! Thx, Dua!
Aventus didn't have a really good start with me. Sometime more than five years ago - and thus clearly before my "being" here - I officially got a sample from ALzD. The scent was fresh and very, very smoky - the birch tree wallowed in its tar and so for me the subject was simply over. Not my loot pattern. Only much later did I learn about batches and variations. But this did not arouse my interest again, but rather astonishment. Imagine if I'd liked the scent in the sample. And with the order, I would have gotten some other scent. Like every batch. So Lotto. With very high commitment.

Well, I didn't have to do that and last year I liked Floris´ 1976, Loewes Esencia EDP or Rojas Elysium. The latter did not remain - the other two moved in.

Now DUA has made it its business to make fragrances "available" again that have been discontinued, sold out or lost in the countless batches. So probably also the Aventus 11Z01. It should be fruity and little smoky. Extrait to it. Well, why not.

And to be honest: THANK YOU, DUA!

Because this fragrance has power and does not annoy me with birch and smoke. It is basically simply fruity and fresh and keeps the birch tree and tar in check, far below. She gets to play. He's more of a goalkeeper than a striker.

The pineapple plays a discreet role and does not make a fruit cocktail out of a summer scent. For me, the fragrance is dominated to a large extent by woody-fresh and citric components. And with that he even makes the jump into my collection.

And rehabilitate his role model a little.

I still don't understand whether every new batch is a flanker or a quality assurance problem. ;)

Freshly tarred forest road after the shower
Aventus.
A fragrance that divides minds. A stuff of heated debate. Batch codes, reformulations, natural ingredients - you name it.
I only possess a sample of the above mentioned fragrance. There are more beautiful, even more valuable scents for me from Creed. Royal oud, for example.
But neither the fragrance nor this brand is the issue here.

No, it's about Poseidon's Elixir 11Z.
I ordered it blind a few days ago. Aventus I know and like. No, it's not necessarily love. But it's a very platonic liking. But as my sample is now coming to an end, I either had to get an Aventus bottle - which I had more reservations about due to the omnipresent discussions about durability and ingredients, especially since the fragrance carries a very proud price - or I would try DUA's Poseidon's Elixir 11Z, which is supposed to be very close to Aventus and might even be worlds ahead of the original in terms of durability - at least if you believe the reviews on the DUA site.

So it arrived yesterday, my 11Z. Tested, sniffed and found good:

Yes, quite clearly, this is an Aventus clone. But what a clone! As with almost all DUA fragrances, the prelude is an oily note, which disappears immediately after a few seconds and releases the mange for the actual perfume. Here the fragrance starts with a tremendous freshness kick. Like an incredibly fresh men's shower gel after an ice-cold shower on a hot summer day.
This freshness is accompanied by an almost bitter bergamot and freshly pressed fruit. Apple, yes. Pineapple, yes, but only discreetly, slightly in the background.
At this moment a certain smokiness sets in, but it is skilfully restrained and in the prelude especially gives the fresh notes the well-deserved precedence.

A short time after the start the birch tree starts to grow and this with a really nice impact. And yet it remains balanced, fresh, green and woody at the same time. Like driving through a birch forest on a warm early summer day. The windows of the old diesel at the very bottom, air conditioning is not available. You sweat a little. But only very little. Rock music in the car, the bass turned up high. You notice the diesel, but only very discreetly. The scenario is now dominated by the green, blooming birch forest. The olfactory experience is accompanied by fresh men's shower gel from my buddies, who are sitting in my car.

I gotta hit the brakes. A construction site in the middle of the forest.
"Dude, you could have just stayed on the freeway!" my buddy, who's sitting next to me, murmurs, still smelling of some rose and jasmine from his girlfriend's perfume.
The forest road will probably be freshly tarred again. It's about time.
The construction workers give us the green light, we can slowly pass the road. I can still smell the birch forest, but now the sweat of the workers and the freshly tarred road join them. In the first moment it is very strong and penetrating, a moment later it becomes less and smells simply breathtakingly good.

With all these scents in the car we drive to the next town. I'll drop my buddies off and pick up my girlfriend from work.
As she gets in she says "God, it smells great in here, what is that?"
I just grin, pull over and let up the windows to catch the smell for a moment.
"Come on now, tell me, what is it?" she asks again, this time a little more insistent I keep smiling, drive my brand new SUV onto the highway and answer her:

"Poseidon's Elixir 11Z".
When she looks at me questioningly, I go, "You know... DUA!".

A strong alternative!
The DUA opens relatively deep! slightly smoky, slightly green, fresh and delicately spicy tart! The bergamot or pineapple does not play a leading role here for the first time.the Dua therefore seems less sporty compared to today's original but somehow more mature.I have given my nose so far many different OG batches (yes Batchgelaber annoys.... o.k....but there are the differences simply) of the original and I must confess I have not smelled such an Aventus yet! The Dua really has something! Whether the 11Z in the OG actually smells like this I can not judge, if so, it has not much in common with the later variants, in a positive sense. Conclusion: Masculine, fresh, tart and elegant this fragrance comes along. Here then also fits the suit in the office.Very well done.H / S are above average.TOP!

The best clone so far.
So having tried Aventus, hacivat, mont blanc explorer, CDNIM and L'aventure...Dua 11z is the best one FOR ME. This is smokey like CDNIM but much more high quality and doesnt go bad in the drydown. CDNIM has a super earthy overly dominating patchouli 2 hours in and im really tired of it. Dua however is smoke, green cooling pine tree, apple, pineapple, bergamot and MUSK. Stays like this until its gone, about 8 hours or so id say. Very stable and high quality. Definitely recommend this smells great all season but shines in the summer!
