Skinny-clad ballet dancers??
Hey guys, I'm back! And today I'll talk about "Ballet Dancer" by MGO Duftmanufaktur. Soo... okay, let's be honest: What were you actually thinking of sending me such a fragrance? Ballet dancer? Really?

Before writing a comment, I always look in Google etc. for information and inspiration about what I could write. Of course I'm looking for the fragrance itself, but also for further information, in this case about ballet and so on. Of course you click on Google images and see people, mostly women, in ballet poses. Some of it looks quite clichéd, especially in those pink tutus (or is that what most people write tutus for? No idea... but stop laughing :D), some of it looks really hot. Of course you click on such pictures, and with each additional picture the outfits become more figure-hugging or tighter. At some point you catch yourself looking at pictures of quite "flexible ladies", who have nothing else on but their ballet shoes... that's like looking at "hot yoga-pics" and so on... (what can I do, if Google spits something like that... :D)!

So you know that I get carried away to such things rather often (yes yes, we know, it's probably because I'm still single, bla bla bla... :D) and still send me such scents that make me think of the above mentioned ladies and search for them... what should I write here... so be ashamed! :D

Of course, I could now simply assume that the scent smells like a ballet dancer? But honestly, I hope not. After all, ballet is supposed to be very exhausting, where you sweat a bit more and so on... and I think nobody wants to smell like that... right????
Never mind, let's get to the scent first!

The smell:
The beginning is quite tangy green, almost a bit biting. This could be due to the tarragon. There are also citrus notes, but I can't determine them exactly. I also smell a note that reminds me of mastic resin. The indicated violets have a light, powdery effect on the scent, but they also seem a bit cool-metallic to me.
After this slightly bitingly cool start, it becomes a bit more floral and slightly sweet, while the powdery part increases a bit more, making the fragrance a bit milder. I find oakmoss striking, which becomes more and more intense from the heart note onwards, making the fragrance seem quite classic, like a fragrance from the 80s or 90s, when oakmoss was even more fashionable than it is today.
A little bit later you can smell the Ylang-Ylang better and better, which for a short while still comes across as relatively weak, but then looks quite opulent, especially in the base, well, I usually say "rather stuffy". It's a kind of scent I really don't like and I'm so uncomfortable with it that I'd like to wash it off, but... since I'm describing the scent, I try to hold out until the end (with which you have to say: "aaaah, how he sacrifices himself for us, so we forgive him his talk about permissive ballet ladies" :DDD)
Anyway, there is a light, nice sweetness in the base, which still comes from the jasmine/violet mix and still has the described cool-metallic charisma for me, but the ylang-ylang is now just too present and the fragrance is generally quite stuffy and unpleasant. It's probably something that some of you ladies might like, but it's not my fragrance, so that I don't like this fragrance at all and I even feel quite crushed.

The Sillage and the durability:
The sillage is good, you are quickly enveloped in a somewhat larger cloud of scent, in which you can of course smell good for a while. The scent has a rather high durability of twelve hours and more, even the next morning there is still a residual breeze on the skin.

The bottle! The bottle is simply cylindrical without a label, so the fragrance name is only printed on the simple bottle. The chrome-plated cap is nothing special either, so the bottle is more practical than aesthetic and therefore not very attractive.

Conclusion:
Soo, okay. Well, I didn't like the smell much. It may not be lousy, but it's just not my type of smell. Despite the young age of the fragrance (it came out in 2016), it seems quite old-fashioned and I'm sure only those who like oakmoss and ylang-ylang will like it, although there are much better scents. Sure, you can test this scent here, but you should wait for autumn, as such a scent can be extremely oppressive in warm weather, especially now that a heat wave is expected (or even arrived, baaah!).

For me this has nothing to do with ballet, but I don't know anything about it either. Sure, you could associate an oldschool-scented scent with ballet, as ballet might sound a bit oldschool to some people, I don't know, but that's not how I imagine a graceful dancer to be. I think instead that a ballet dancer would wear a more lovely scent, something pleasant or maybe even sexy, but those are just my weird fantasies, because you know that I am a drooling stupid fool with all kinds of performances, especially in summer... :D

Anyway, whoever wants can have a look at the scent, especially if you like scents like oakmoss, but I have to say that, as I said, there are certainly better scents in this area. Now I come to the end and wish you all a nice evening, see you all :))

PS: And now let's get it out: Which of you ladies has had ballet lessons? :DD

A real surprise!
Today I took Ballet Dancer from the rehearsal collection and to anticipate it, I should have tested it earlier.
I am torn back and forth, was initially busy with Guerlain fragrances and comparing them with such.
To make it perfect for me, I have left the beloved Mitsouko and right the Ballet Dancer for comparison.
In fact, very familiar and comparable directions are on the way in the beginning.
But then the real surprise, while Mitsouko gets a sometimes very animalistic character in the first minutes; that, by the way, depends entirely on my condition, Ballet Dancer radiates me blatantly and comes on the one hand fresh and spicy, but still solid and valuable.

After about 15 minutes Ballet Dancer really gets going and I recognize Tarragon in its finest way before the exquisite flowery phase takes over the command.

Not intrusive but very penetrating, protective and warming and somehow still fresh.
While my nose takes the other side for comparison, it becomes almost difficult to perceive Mitsuoko. I'm really irritated, one of my favorite scents is losing the battle right now. How is that possible? I've already tested a few fragrances from MGO Duftanker and have always been pleasantly surprised by a brand I've never seen before, but this one tops my expectations completely.

The depth coming up after about an hour, the carpet on which the scent rests, makes me really happy.
The farewell tuberose, the slightly sweet currant paired with the flowery aspects do not disappear completely and everyone flashes out from time to time, while the base with warming spices, unsweet vanilla and various woods create a feeling of happiness and security in me.

Now I've almost forgotten the other wrist.
Of course, Mitsouko is still there and in the end there are different scents, both good and yet I get stuck on Ballet Dancer for now.
It is now on my shopping list, especially as I also get memories of Diaghilev from Roja.
But I can't make a real comparison, my sample Diaghilev has been empty for a long time. Maybe I only associate a possible connection because of the name.

There is a rating from me that expresses how Ballet Dancer has convinced and won me. Not a well-known name, but a great perfumer's art for me. Nice that the durability on my skin is very good and my sample is not yet empty, so I can spend the whole weekend with it and look forward to the order.

Conclusion: This scent really flashed me!
