Obituary: rest in peace
Yes, the adventurer of Eddie Bauer, Jil Sanders for Men came quite close, but the citrus note was stronger, the effect of the woods and the tobacco note prevented but successfully the drift towards the toilet cleaner or toilet block.

I got to know the Adventurer in the millennium year 2000 in Pensacola/ Florida, the flacon was really not very nice to look at. It came in a very dark poison green and looked very simple, almost rustic, the rectangular bottle was topped by a silver-coloured atomizer with equivalent and same coloured cap in aluminium optics.
The understatement design was completed with the golden Eddie Bauer logo (a duck or goose, no eagle) and the Adventurer logo of the same tone.
The fragrance wasn't expensive either, I don't remember the exact price, it was somewhere around 30-40$ for the 4oz bottle.
The fragrance was sold in my own Eddie Bauer stores, but I don't know if it was possible online. In its core business Eddie Bauer is a fashion label for outdoor and underwear and accessories. But there were large intersections in the strong side business for streetwear and leisurewear, which were also all produced and sold under the Eddie Bauer logo.

The adventurer aroma could be described as shower gel freshness, but also a quite woody note was noticeably present, at any rate perfect for the climate in Florida. Since even in winter it rarely fell below 16 degrees C, that is the temperature where the natives start wearing wool hats and gloves, the freshly-dressed Teutone with scents like Jil Sander for Men and the Adventurer felt poodled in the Eddie Bauer Sweater and was eager to explore his new home.
The scent was not a big hit, but acceptable, and found also with my European circle of acquaintances quite interest.
The Adventurer was replaced by the AdventurerII, which was rejected by my nose however consistently as "does not go at all".

Another candidate where I formulate a "pity about it".
