When the sun goes to sleep...
"Champs de Provence" is a chilled scent, if one may quote the youth of today. Laidback, relaxed, chillaxed and pleasant one could also call him, in order to slide into even worse realms of the youth language. But this Eight & Bob has very few hypermodern, cool, hip things. He looks like an old Southern European during siesta.

Stylish, summery, juicy. Orange becomes orange blossom and ambroxed musk from it. Transparent, bright, transparent. Completely relaxed and resting in itself. Certainly a little bit "Provence" (you won't find lavender in vain), certainly a little bit less pizzazz in Pöppes - but altogether a contemporary whom I like to carry around and perform. Especially on warm summer nights. With him you can do little wrong. I don't want to attract attention. But you won't hear much negative here. From no generation, from granny to daughter. At most we olfactory nerds nag because he is hardly surprised or too lame for us. But we are only a mini fringe group.

Flacon: green & good
Sillage: discreet to barely perceptible. Very cautious. A fragrance, almost exclusively for the wearer.
Shelf life: unfortunately only just 5 hours

Conclusion: a delicate, overripe mandarin, pickled in transparent herbs (basil!) and earthy nuances. Not spectacular, but for my taste quite pleasing and easy to wear. Solid!

Provence without lavender fields

An eau de parfum dedicated to the theme of Provence fields, but without the lavender that is so typical of this region, is quite daring. Or ignorant or poorly researched?

This would be roughly comparable to a scent of Tuscany without pines or cypresses or Sicily without citric notes. So somehow there would be something missing. Nevertheless Champs de Provence comes across relatively authentic despite missing lavender. At least it triggers a little wanderlust, certainly in the direction of Provence or other similarly structured regions, over which the sun laughs and which invite with green shady places including relatively intact nature, peace and relaxation.

Champs de Provence looks very familiar, like a mixture of Jardin Sur Le Nil and Eau de Campagne. For those who feel comfortable with these two creations, this fragrance would also be a recommendation.

Already the fresh citric prelude with slightly tart green accents makes it clear where the journey should go: to a refuge where you should simply let your soul dangle. What bothers me a little is a good hint of white flower notes. It's not specified, but you can't deny it. Pear as an ingredient is only minimally perceptible, while orange blossom is all the more intense.

A little later, a pleasant soapy nuance is added, such as the handmade French Savons de Marseille, which can be bought at various markets. There the illusion after Provence becomes already substantially denser.

Since I cannot perceive Ambroxan myself, I am also allowed to judge how natural Champs de Provence actually is. From my subjective perception at any rate very good. The shelf life, which is quite long for my sensation, could possibly speak against it.

Anyway - the association to a positive feeling, especially an imaginary olfactory short trip to Provence with under trees at a white table with wine, bread and cheese including a view into the landscape as well as a pleasant breeze on a summer day is reached. What more could you ask for than a few sprinkles of lavender?

Tart orangey cologne backed by big white florals. Fresh, vibrant juicy pear & citruses, full-bodied jasmine, a soft green mossy undertone.

Nice summer fragrance, the orange lasts a long time on clothes which is unusual for citrus. Like.
