On my second bottle...
It is rare for me to buy a second bottle of any perfume these days, now that I've amassed more juice than can be consumed in ten lifetimes. It happened with Ellen Tracy TRACY, though, because it is so eminently wearable in public settings such as the library, that I often reach for it while dashing out the door when I want to scent myself but need something fast and safe and likeable. And it is.

TRACY falls into the category of fragrances, new to the twenty-first century, as far as I know, which really should be labeled SSRIs. This is because such compositions are cheery and uplifting, light and nice, but perfumey enough to create gentle wafts of delight while walking around in the heat. They are so affable that it's hard to believe that they could offend anyone. (I see, however, below, my perfume pal Awesomeness does not agree! (-;)

This composition, in particular, is a bright and slightly sweet floral. It has got to be mostly if not entirely synthetic, given that my latest bottle cost all of $10 for 2.5 oz (at TJMAXX), but somehow it does not fall apart and really smells much better than most of the newly launched fragrances of this type--I mean the ones which are sourced from a big vat but heavily marketed (making them coveted perfumes despite their poor quality) and for which one therefore pays five or six times this price for lower quality juice.

Whenever I wear TRACY, I find myself smiling at how good I smell. To my nose, it is an instant mood elevator. I smell violets, almond, iris, sandalwood and what not, and it's all blended together in a creamy yet somehow also clean composition. I like it. I do.

Pretty in Pink
You only have to look at the notes listed and the colour of the bottle to know this is a pink fragrance.

But oh my it's such a soft feminine beauty. The orris gives it a silky smoothness, like rubbing highly milled face powder between your fingers. The pink flowers are as soft as baby's breath and the base is a vanillic, almond milk. Don't be fooled into thinking that all this softness and gentleness makes this a fleeting fragrance, as it has very good longevity on me. Lovely.

A Nice Surprise
Being from Europe I had never heard of Ellen Tracy, so, when I saw this perfume for a song without a tester and trying to curtail my blind-buys, I ignored it, although the Perfumista in me was ready to grab a bottle and smuggle it in with my other purchases. I didn't, but I did read the reviews on Parfumo stating what a wonderful scent this is and based on those I bought a bottle. (Thank you dear Ladies!)

On me it's a "violet-dipped-in-almond-milk-and-cuddled-with-peony-and-iris" scent. The drydown has a hint of sandalwood that gives it a slight earthy base, not too earthy but enough to balance out the -almost water- fresh vibe hat this perfume has. It's simply divine in its complex simplicity!

On me the scent doesn't really change much, in fact the note evolvement seems to circle around these same notes in a circular fashion (and what a wonderful note-mix it is!) and gives me wonderful whiffs of them throughout the day. Other people notice and love it too, I had two people ask me what I was wearing and I only own this since yesterday!

I can only recommend this beauty to everyone who likes fragrances that are just sheer pretty, inoffensive yet not fleeting and are suitable for all occasions due to its well mixed yumminess of gentle florals dipped in almond milk. (I wish I could find the body lotion!)

Silage is: "a beautiful and persistent cloud of violets, peony and iris in almond milk is surrounding me." -- Longevity is amazing on me with an astounding 10+ hours!

Try it! I promise you'll like it...It wont break the bank and it's one of those scents that every Perfumista should own for all those moment when you're undecided what to wear but don't want to leave the house without a scent. (The mere thought!! ; ) Good luck and enjoy!

Tracy
A luminous demure aura extreamly feminine
scent nothing sharp harsh or edgy just
a soft non obtrusive with a girlish innocence kind of a scent that is safe and
ideal for young girls for their first perfume collection.
It opens with a scent of sweet and airy
peonies delicate sweetness of each pink
petal dries fresh with a green note of
cassia adds to the freshness then in a
minute or so turns fruity with the succulent note of plum blossom and i also can detect juicy ripe peach mingling with the deeper and more juicer
plum dries the top note.

Rose opens the middle notes but it's
faint and diluted then iris with it's powdery texture steeps slowly though
the middle note then delicate note of
purple violet finishes the middle note.

The drydown opens with an milky accord
that is a bit cloying to my senses amber
with a warm coziness begins to makes it's presence then it finishes with
dry sandalwood and vanilla to end this
femininity.

White floral alert
I really like the impression of this scent and I bought it blind based on the recommendation of a trusty swap partner.

Although I like it, really like it, there is something about Ellen Tracy fragrances that usually doesn't agree with me, and that usually is jasmine, LOV & other white florals. Although not a listed note, I sense jasmine in this fragrance. It's not at a level that induces asthma (like Ellen Tracy original) but at a level that has me cautious about applying & wearing. The only Ellen Tracy fragrance that doesn't have me on my toes in this regard is Peony & Rose.

Those sensitive to white florals -- or I should say, the formulas used to mimic white florals -- be forewarned. I can tolerate Tracy occasionally, but not every day. Although bottles can be found cheap (under $10), it's not worthy for me to keep this around.
