Sunset in the Mango Valley

"Taj Sunset" is a prime example of the fruity, summery Escada DNA. Young, tangy, watery. A pure holiday fragrance. Exoticism in unimaginative.

Little creative or even complex, despite rather relatively rarely used mango, but it does not always have to be multilayered and surprising. Here you get what you expect and sometimes need. Meaty and never screechy. Youthful, hurried, spurting, bubbly. A cocktail with charm and no contour. Nice, not a brett. Fortunately quite natural and sugar-free, for proper sweetness and heaviness provides rather the coconut.

Flacon: summery, exotic, a bit cheesy
Sillage: fruity, squishy, but never spacey fortunately
Shelf life: 4-5 hours at really high temperatures

Conclusion: a rare summery, juicy mango without fisimatentchen

Pina Colada

This reminds me somewhat of Sunset Heat, but so much sweeter.
It smells like there is pineapple in it although it is not listed in the notes. I love that the coconut is in the base notes. This is now my favorite of the Escadas. It reminds me of a Pina Colada on steriods.

The best Escada

Most often I'm bored with the typical fruity sensations that Escada releases every year, however this new Taj Sunset is quite enjoyable.

It is of course fruity and sweet, however it's a lot more interesting than I thought it would be. It opens with candied mango, blood orange and nectarine which really suits my skin type and thankfully doesn't smell putrid. It smells like something I would like to devour; tropical and refreshing. It's like ray of sunshine on a picturesque island away from the mundane office space of your everyday world.

In my opinion it is the essential travelling fragrance, especially if you're going somewhere beachy and exotic. All the sugary-ness works in this composition, it is neither too sweet nor headache inducing. It doesn't feel too teen either, it's like any woman of any age could get away with wearing this. I liked how one reviewer described it as being, "liquid summer sunshine".

I'm not big on fruity florals and I usually detest Escada scents, however Taj Sunset is something exciting and it has definitely won me over. It reminds me of deliciously fruity cocktails or mango flavoured daiquiris. The coconut in the drydown only adds extra sparkle and creaminess, along with jammy raspberry and crisp apple.

The sillage is moderate, and the lasting power comes and goes depending on what type of skin you have. I rarely enjoy wearing fruity scents, but in this particular case Escada has managed to please me and let me have a lot of fun doing so.

Summer, sun, mango - only the durability doesn't dance the tango

The fragrance smells fruity and sweet.
A summery day, the sun is shining, a fresh mango is cut open. A sweet summer refreshment.

My husband feels the same way. The fragrance is fruity and sweet, just great mango in a bottle.

Unfortunately, this fragrance is an eau de toilette, so it really doesn't last long. A great pity.

Too sharp/tangy to enjoy the mango

I love Escada - it's one of my favorite perfume lines. Some of their fragrances have no equal or comparison, however "simple" they may be. But Taj Sunset is not one of those - it's a pass for me.

It smells nice (you get the sweet mango and fruity notes), but there's a bit of "tanginess"/sharpness to the mango note that makes the mango smell like it's becoming too ripe. It's also very hard to find a bottle that hasn't turned yet - the limited edition summer Escada releases all seem to have this problem unfortunately (but I guess it's not surprising, given the age of many of these).

Some BBW mists that give a similar vibe to Taj Sunset, but are much more vibrant, fruity, and deliciously tropical:
