Delicious Candied Lemon...
Living Lavender opens with extremely natural smelling sugary lemon supported by dulled orange and a brief infusion of natural lime. As the composition moves to its early heart, the sweetened lemon remains sans orange and lime, now joined by supporting mild powdery aromatic lavender. During the late dry-down the lemon gradually recedes, leaving the tonka bean derived sweetness to couple with the slightly powdery lavender through the finish. Projection is relatively poor with the composition little more than a skin scent throughout and longevity dead center average at 7-8 hours on skin.

The first thing that comes to mind when Living Lavender is applied on skin is the realistic smell of old-fashioned lemon hard candies. The fine powdered sugar coated candies with their intense sugary lemon blast come out just as if you were sucking on one. The orange and lime exhibited early are very short-lived and never distract from the candied lemon focus. Quite frankly, while the composition is called "Living Lavender" I personally would have swapped "Lemon" in for "Lavender" based on the fragrance profile, as the lavender seems quite contented to sit in the background, adding the powdery sheen to the complete lemon candy profile. The whole thing is simplistic and highly linear from start-to-finish, but sometimes one would rather have a perfectly composed minimalist composition where each individual note is easily identifiable and completely natural, melding with its relatively few companions in perfect harmony. 2014 has been a year of far too few positive surprises, but luckily Roberto Dario's Living Lavender is certainly one of them. The bottom line is the 50 Euros per 30ml bottle Living Lavender may not be the best descriptor for this exceptional all-natural composition by Esperienze Olfattive, but while its structure may be simplistic and its progression highly linear the composition delivers what amounts to one of the best renditions of candied lemon I have ever sniffed, earning an "excellent" 4 to 4.5 stars out of 5 and an easy recommendation to all.
