Woody & balsamic
Forty thieves is a Woody and balsámic perfume which is not my type if scent. The opening is intense and a bit dirty and medicinal, with the spicy touch of the pepper and the Orange blossom. Then un the dry down It becomes totally Woody and resinous. I can feel a very perceptible sandalwood, with the typical pencil smell, not creamy, and a mix of resins, with the labdanum and the amber un first place dirtied with honey and oud. the dry down shares some vibe with danal oudh nashwa by rasasi cause of the mix of oud and honey. I can find some quality but i honestly dont like them he smell very much.
Regsrding the performance It is average... Good longevity but moderate sillage. Unisex but a bit more on the masculine side. For autumm nights...

What do 40 robbers smell like?
Ali Baba faced his big fight. A multitude of brigands wanted to be defeated. Armed from top to bottom, fierce, impetuous. How would he do it? All brigands at once? No, it would not work. He had to think of a way to get rid of them all one by one and recover the treasure Of course he could wait until the cave was empty but that was risky. What if the robbers suddenly appeared when he was inside the cave? Question after question, he needed help. I guess we all know the story of Ali Baba and the forty thieves. Like few others from 1001 Nights it is present and virtually from the Orient to the Occident.
In fact, if you know the story - you could see the perfume as a tribute. In the beginning, the robbers emerge from the sources, and it is berserk, wild and impetuous. They break into caravans, rob, plunder and pillage (ok, that's exaggerating). So much the smell comes out of the bottle, madness. For those who are not yet unconscious, it is worth going forward. .

Afterwards, an intense, linear fragrance of intense and dark-sweet beauty flows. The rose, the honey, the orange blossom, these are naturally ingredients with power. The scent is intense and beguiling, yet the perfume is like a tightrope walk. Not much is missing, Forty Thieves can be demanding. The scent is intense, has a strong sillage and a persistent durability.
You could say that is the custom with strong perfumes. Unfortunately not always at Fort & Manle. If the fragrance were to continue, it would be too much for me personally, even somewhere too sweet. And so the fragrance loses more and more of its characteristic depth with time, it remains a sweetness. One could say that Ali Baba has conquered the 40 robbers and this sweetness, this beauty does not show in the robbers but rather in the happy end or falls to the clever slave, without whose dance Ali Baba would not have been successful.
Also very nice that thoughts have been given. In the fairy tale there is talk of various ingredients that were stored in the cave of the robbers from the fairy tale. These are built into the base, see amber and sandalwood. Refined and again it shows that Fort & Manle proceed with sense and reason. What I personally dislike about 40 Thieves is that the perfume is too sweet for me. That applies to many perfumes from this house, although I have to acknowledge the compositions.

Now who's that for? For the one who appreciates Charlatan as an example

Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves
Notes: Bergamot, Pink Pepper, Labdanum, Amber, Rose, Honey, Orange Blossom, Amber, Sandalwood, Oud and Vanilla

Love this one, so far all the fragrances I have tried from this house are all unique and this no exception. This is based on Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves and Rasei has done justice and made this magical potion. Opens with Bergamot and Pink Pepper but the Bergamot note is short lived, the drydown is to die for. Amber, Oud, Incense and Sandalwood take you on a journey just like the fable.

Melbourne robber
Dear Uncle Fort, dear Aunt Manlé,
i'm obliged to you again to deepest thanks, you had sent me in my emergency this package with the 40 robbers. Your concern that I would eventually turn to vegetarianism seems monumental. However, I'm a little surprised about the Australian postmen, because unfortunately almost all the robbers were upside down when I opened the parcel. I guess they still don't know that we're living right up here They were already looking a little sourly sharp from the laundry, as they were bowling around in the papyrus like cabbage and... no, not turnips... more like drunk citrus. They seemed all bewildered to me. So I didn't let them wait any longer, maybe a quarter of an hour, and then what a pleasure you were!
While at first I had the impression with the rose aroma that Orangeat had got in there improperly, luckily this turned out to be a fallacy, as they had been stored in old wooden boxes, which now made them shine with a plummy fruitiness. Oh, how they now melted on the spicy honey. One or the other even seemed a bit leathery to me, which I found very fitting here, as they were after all daring robbers. The longer I indulged in the pleasure, the more I indulged in dark, sweet vanilla, balsamic sweet tobacco, velvety warm sandalwood and this grey-orange stuff, which they always find lump by lump in the sea and which smells so glisteningly saturated reddish and sweet. They must've stolen some of that stuff But tell me, dear uncle, dear aunt, don't the robbers get enough to eat at your place in Melbourne? I thought she was a little slim, almost posh. Well, I certainly don't want to complain, Nouvelle Cuisine wasn't there yet, and still I had cleaned them completely after a good five hours, all forty. And they don't lie heavy in the stomach either, no, they feel excellent, maybe not just in summer, then it can also be something lighter.

when the forty robbers...
.. have cleared away the boxes with the apples you have received - and for this you need a maximum of two minutes-
it will be incredibly nice with them:
a very delicate vanilla sweet breath pervades the warehouse,
oriental sweet with discreet freshness
amber-honey-warmth never seems heavy - rather floating, and as if enchanted by orange blossoms.
soft is that, delicious. finest sour-sweet dissonances weave through a delicate balsamic harmony

actually they are shy, the robbers, I would not have expected that,
and very large aesthetes.

Spicy oud&honey over a Woody balsamic background of sandalwood and labdanum. Good quality, average performance but weird scent for me...
