a compliment
Are compliments actually still being paid?
Those light, charming remarks that make a woman's heart beat faster?
That they hold their head differently, let them walk and stand differently ?
Or is it just "cool pick-up lines" these days?
I for one love compliments - even now that I am no longer so young!

Well, the house of Fragonard at least still knows how to do it: "Belle de Nuit" is a fragrant compliment for its wearer; it flatters her.
A bit old-fashioned perhaps in the selection of flowers, but cuddly and feminine.
The fragrance canvas was primed with three wonderful scents: the warm, luxurious yellow of the ylang-ylang beauty, the warm white of the noble creature gardenia and the carnation-like colorful variety of the miracle flower.
They form a femininely enchanting base on which a not too loud but easily noticeable violet, "Her Highness the Rose" and a spicy rose geranium can thrive and develop to their fullest potential.
Restrained yet sensual, "Belle de Nuit" shows itself to this point. And yet still remains a little bit brittle.
The plum warm sweetness gives this fine creation physicality and underlines its perceived luxury.
Not too dark woods and a well-dosed musk round off the beauty of the fragrance and give it stability.
This enchanting fragrance rests in itself.

Whether "Belle de Nuit" is worn like a slim, narrow or swinging summer dress is irrelevant; if it fits, it will fit like a tailor-made dress for a few beautiful hours.

"Belle de Nuit" is a perfumed compliment; a whispered, tender: "You are my beauty of the night"!

Mirabilis jalapa
is the scientific name of the miraculous flower, Belle de Nuit, the beauty of the night, because the flower opens at night and emits its fragrance. Like a warm night on the Cote d'Azur. The fragrance may seem a bit old-fashioned, even nostalgic, but it has a lot of charm and elegance. Fits for every occasion

Beauty of the night? A sexy lady, maybe? No... once again "just" a flower... pfft...
Hello you snoopers, I'm coming to another Fragonard today, finally I'm still snooping my way through the hiking package here and write a comment to one or the other fragrance :)

Today it's time for the fragrance "Belle de Nuit", which I naturally thought would be a beauty of the night... a woman, with flowing long hair in a charming dress, sweet smiles, sexy charisma,... ah... always these notions of single guys *sigh*

And then I see it's a wonder flower!! A flower!!! And there was also one I didn't even know from my looks, of course, and had to look it up again. But well, the description sounds cool, of course, because these flowers have the "habit" of having several flower colours in a single plant and even colour transitions can occur in the individual petals, hence the name wonder flower.

The question now is only,... how such miracle flowers smell, but as you know me, I will certainly have no idea and simply call the perceived scent "flowery", he he :DD

The fragrance:
The scent begins flowery! Well, well, well, well, well! :D
But I smell roses rather than anything else, at least at the beginning there are roses that smell flowery, but also slightly sour, like roses do. In the background there is a nice, creamy note, which makes the fragrance more pleasant, but which changes over time into a powdery one, so I assume that you can smell violets here, which would also explain the slight sweetness of the fragrance.
A little later the rose weakens slightly, but then you smell more flowery notes, but I'm not sure if I smell something under these flowers that I didn't know before and what the wonder flower could be. Because somehow I just smell flowers that even look a bit stuffy.
Towards the end, in addition to the floral notes, there is also a plum fragrance, which occasionally fermentes a little and smells like dried plums a little later. The base is slightly woody, but I still smell a lot of floral notes in the base, some of which unfortunately seem a bit too stuffy to me. Especially in the later base I found this stuffness even quite unpleasant, whereby I did not find the smell on the whole so particularly great.

The Sillage and the shelf life:
The Sillage is rather moderate, so that the scent will be more smellable from close up.
The shelf life was however quite okay with scarcely eight to nine hours.

The bottle:
The bottle is cylindrical with a dome in the upper part. The lid is rounded with a cylindrical underside showing the name of the brand. On the label you can see a colorful drawing of a flower, but whether this should be a miracle flower... well, ask me something else! :D All in all but nice done.

Soo, so that was the beauty of the night. Well, even if this name meant the miracle flower instead of a charming beauty, I still don't know how miracle flowers smell, because I could only smell roses and indeterminable flowers, which didn't seem any different or "unknown" to me (or at least I didn't notice it) and which also had a stuffy smell.

Therefore I would not decorate the fragrance with the term "beauty", because I did not find the fragrance so particularly beautiful. As always, all this can of course only seem to me, so that you ladies could like the scent much better. Admittedly, the beginning of the fragrance is very nice, as it also comes across as creamy and powdery, but afterwards it becomes more and more irrelevant for me, so that it simply becomes an unspectacular daily fragrance for me, which you could wear at work or something.

It's not good for going out and therefore I don't think that you ladies with the scent "biteable" look :D ... pah, now all of you will surely want to use the scent, because nobody of me wants to get bite, aaaaaah, why you always do something like that to me *sob* ... :(((

Hey hey, good, then I only test men's scents from now on! That's what you get for it! D
Anyway, that was it again and so I come to the end and wish you all a nice evening,... you beauties of the nights :DD

Old-fashioned soaps
While I do find this fragrance pretty, it's a little too soapy for my liking. It smells like an expensive bar of old-fashioned, floral soap.

The floral notes aren't as pronounced and as creamy as I would like them to be. The geranium tends to be quite prominent, adding a strange tartness to the scent.

Initially Belle de Nuit smelt grassy on my skin, and a little sharp. I found some similarities between this fragrance and Pure by DKNY. However once the scent had developed into the heart, the florals became much more balanced, with a slightly rich and juicy plum note.

In a warmer environment the gardenia, rose and violet really tend to shine, however in this cold weather in which I'm testing it now, Belle de Nuit smells literally like soap and musk. Due to this observation, Belle de Nuit is better suited to the delightful Spring weather.

Belle de Nuit lacks sweetness and powdery-ness which is something you often expect with florals. It does however have a very 'perfume-y' feel to it.

I'm young, and unfortunately I don't think that this perfume suits my age category. Belle de Nuit is more for a mature woman with a very clear approach to life. This fragrance is classic, a little old-fashioned and clean. Nothing in this composition hints at anything particularly sexy or daring.

The lasting power is impressive and the sillage is delicate and intimate. This fragrance, although it is not really to my taste, is something that I can imagine a caring mother wearing. Belle de Nuit is a scent that I'd like to remember a role-model in my life smelling of.
