Honestly......impressed.
Yet another blind buy gamble, yet another blind buy win. Short 'n' sweet, it's a very good clone of Bleu de Chanel parfum. Quite a few Indonesian videos online, but since I don't speak the language, it was always going to be a toss up, especially since this is my first bottle from the brand. Luckily, the gamble paid off this time (and in spades) because this juice right here, is something else...
First off, the packaging isn't so impressive. The cellophane barely sticks, the box is rather plain and standard and doesn't even have a cardboard cut-out on the inside to keep the bottle in place. As a result, the jostling during shipping scuffed it up a little. Nevertheless, the colour of the bottle does resemble Bleu de Chanel quite a bit, and if the cheap polarized magnetic cap doesn't give it away...well then the scent surely does.
I remember being on tenterhooks the first time I sprayed it. So many brands have tried so many times to get the BDC blend right and just couldn't hack it. But upon initial sniff, I was relieved to find myself smiling and nodding. "Yup. Yup, that's it. That's BDC parfum." And on paper it keeps getting better and better. Certainly won't go into a detailed analysis of the notes because the scent is so damn similar, but all I can say is that it DOES smell of a tad lower quality than the original on skin (surprise surprise), and that there is a noticeable alcohol blast in the opening. But even that can be overlooked in light of the performance, which is...shockingly good.
Unbelievably good projection for a solid 3 hours. Really was quite startling the first few times I wore it, since a review or two online bashed the longevity. Nuh-uh. Excellent longevity and projection for the LE PARFUM version, and even outstrips the Chanel. I still would recommend double tapping (spraying twice in the same spot) and going half-and-half on skin and on clothing, but there's no need to worry about crappy performance with this one. Bullet dodged.
Just remember that the Le Parfum version is a clone of BDC PARFUM and not the edt or edp, which, to my nose, have far more prominent grapefruit, cedar and incense notes. The parfum still has the classic backbone, but certainly muddles things up a bit with the sandalwood and replaces the incense with some fairly nondescript musty spices. So if you're looking for a clone of the edt, this ain't it.
Overall though, for the price that I paid at a local discounter, I'm well chuffed with the purchase. Never was a huge fan of Bleu de Chanel myself, but it's like catnip to some commoners, so I suppose it's worth having something close to it in the collection. And despite the bottle being an absolute fingerprint magnet, it'll certainly be getting some use this year. Can't speak for any of the other fragrances from Geparlys, but this one is certainly a winner for me. Elvis or MJ would be proud.
