BAN IFRA once and for all.
I recently read an article in the Daily Mail U.K. that Millennial's are rejecting the cheap, weak, synthetic smelling fresh aquatic colognes and preferring the old school masculine classics! If that is the case, then perfume houses the world over had better take heed and bring back these amazing scents, like Gianfranco Ferre. The IFRA tyrannical regulations should no longer be accepted, especially in America. The perfume houses could move their operations to America and make the perfumes the way they were in their glory days. IFRA, like the U.N. should have no authority in truly sovereign nations like America. They are destroying the art, they are destroying the industry. IFRA bans more ingredients every year just to make themselves seem relevant. Pretty soon, there will be no natural ingredients permitted. Enough! If a certain ingredient causes skin irritation on certain individuals, then all we need is a simple warning on the bottle of perfume. "Warning, this product contains ingredients that may cause skin irritation on certain individuals" See? Real simple. We don't need a ridiculous bureaucracy with tyrannical powers that requires billions of tax dollars to operate. Let's make the perfume industry GLORIOUS again, and demand that the IFRA be dismantled and banned forever. Why do we accept un-elected dictators telling us what we can and cannot wear on our bodies? Gianfranco Ferre is one of the most beautiful mens colognes ever designed. Maybe they discontinue these works of art because of IFRA regulations??? I am sick and tired of it. How about YOU?

In the deep fir I walk
"Forstmeister Parfumeur's best creation", so far...I "unfortunately" only have a mini of it.
This "Gianfranco Ferre" is a truly natural-looking, wonderfully mossy forest scent that somehow comes across as "soft".
Although I like it quite "creaky", I particularly like this one.
I imagine a cool conifer forest, for example the Black Forest or the Bavarian (Bohemian) Forest.
With high fir trees, partly dense and dark, partly light and bright, alternating, with larches, soft, needle-laden forest soil and mossy stones and trunks.
Somewhere a stream gurgles over stones and sticks.
There are also clearings here, with mysteriously whispering grasses and herbs with which the wind plays.
A peaceful environment, just as created to relax and take a deep breath.
There are no distracting frills, the scent is "real" and "straightforward".
Somewhere in the distance I see white trunks of a birch grove shimmering. I also want to go there to sniff the "inky", slightly "tarry" scent of the bark. From "deep fir" to light green.
There I like to rest on a bench and enjoy the fragrances.
And this "Gianfranco Ferre for Men" is on my wish list!

An Old School Very Affordable Chypre...
Gianfranco Ferre for Man opens with a beautiful bergamot and lavender tandem with a very subtle lemon undertone that hangs in the far background. The lavender and bergamot remain into the early heart notes, soon joined by a very noticeable jasmine, combining with a grassy-green orris and petit-grain tandem. In addition to the primary heart notes, oakmoss from the base rises into the later heart creating the classic chypre structure, while a leathery undertone joins the oakmoss through the dry-down, supported by subtle sandalwood, vetiver and patchouli accents. Projection and longevity are both average.

Gianfranco for Man is a real hidden gem and a fabulous surprise. In many ways it evokes some of the best qualities of classic chypres of the past like Patou pour Homme and vintage Derby... It goes without saying as those are two of the best masculines ever released, being mentioned alongside them is high praise indeed! The opening immediately begins to capture your heart, and then the mossy-green citric middle seals the deal. If there are any negatives they would have to be minor quibbles of longevity and projection not approaching monster levels, but those are minor indeed and absolutely should not deter one from buying this stellar release from Ferre *at all*. Gianfranco Ferre for Man was a relatively inexpensive blind buy at well under $30 that turned out to be a new favorite of mine at any price, earning a very strong 4 to 4.5 stars out of 5 and a "strong buy" recommendation.

Der Herbst ist schon ganz nah, das denkt auch Herr Ferré, ist doch klar. Drum zeigt er sich bereits in diesen Tagen, in herbstlich anmutenden Farben voller Wohlbehagen.
