Fresh floral musk
The house of Gianfranco Ferré is very under the radar, manly because it doesn't have any big fragrances on the market neither a strong marketing to support them.

This fragrance is a total ghost. There's almost no information about it, except some websites that carry this fragrance and supply the note list. Even the year of release isn't known for sure, although, i think it came out in 2020 just because my bottle is from 2020 and i didn't saw any information before that year. Perfumer is also unkown. The GF website doesn't have any information about fragrances neither the Angelini Beauty website, which is the producer/distributor of the brand. It lists Trussardi, Laura Biagiotti, Armand Basi and other brands but no mention about GF.

So, i came to know (and bought) this fragrance after seeing some Youtube videos about it from Scent Land channel. He gave high marks on it and i decided to try to find a bottle. It was very difficult because in Europe, only one bulgarian website had this one. I found a deal on a tester bottle and grab it before it became out of stock.

Thankfully, the bottle came with a cap which, btw, is nice and heavy. And talking about the presentation, it's quite nice. Blue juice, a metal plate with the name of the brand and the name of the fragrance and a nice heavy and transparent bottle. The sprayer is a bit strange. It's like a Dior sprayer, where you can control the amout of perfume that came out, but, it sprays a lot of juice and with a high length. So, i recommend you to spray from a distance.

In regards of smell, its super bright and fresh. Almost clean sheets after ironing. Really appealing and not sweet or synthetic like many contemporaries. It's based on a bergamot-jasmine-musk accord. Basically, starts a bit tart, super fresh and citrusy. The bergamot is very present but always with a clean, slightly powdery musk underneath it. The composition is rounded by a jasmine note that isn't indolic rather soft floral and delicate. The fragrance is not ultra complex nor static. It's fresh all the time but it mellows and rounds a bit when it reaches the drydown (after 2h) and starts to fade away after 4-5h.

The performance isn't great, specially in terms of projection but it lasts a good amount of time on skin. You can over apply it without a problem due to its fresh softness character. It's almost impossible to offend anyone with this. It's appealing, polite and casual. Excellent for work, gym or a walk on a beach side. Springtime scent manly, but it fits well the summer time temperatures. I wouldn't wore it in winter, just because i prefer denser perfumes for that time.

Overall, a good perfume that reminds me of 212 Men and CK One without being any of those. But the fresh floral-musk character is similar to those. Great value for the money. 3/5

Fougere italiano
After i saw on ytube a review of fougere ialiano I bought a tester botlle for 13 euro.
I am not sure if is a clasic fougere but it smell nice, a litle bit sintetic and on my skin i can feel it around 5 hours.
In the opening I can smell bergamote and something sweet maybe that jasmen.
I didnt smell the cedar maybe is there for suport and in the dry down i can fell the musk.
It is a very easy to wear cologne for spring and summer and for the money I paid for it I have no regrets.

90s and early 00s in a bottle
This is a textbook 90s-00s citrus-floral-musk, and to me it is a brighter version of 212 Men. It could easily be a flanker of it. I found a 30ml bottle for 10 euros and had to try it, expecting a classic Italian barbershop scent, however to my positive surprise I got something similar to 212 Men and maybe more similar to Etro's Via Verri. The bright, metallic, grassy vibe of 212 is surely here with florals lurking behind mostly violet/violet leaf. I think it is an amazing find for the price, and bottle quality as described by a fellow reviewer is way above average. Surely better than "niche" Initios, Manceras and Montales...

This is hard to come by in retail but online there are great deals and there isn't much info about the fragrance at all. A total sleeper in my view...

Fougere or not?
With the very first spray I was immediately wandering: is this really a fougere? The sure is that this is not an ordinery fougere. As you possibly know fougere fragrances are made by combining lavender, oakmoss, and coumarin ( the very first formula created by Paul Parquet in 1882) and not at all the actual smell of a fern.In our days most fougere fragrances include some other notes like citrus, herbaceous, green, floral, and animalic notes.
In this blend I can not recognize the most of these notes,So what do I recognize? There are citrus notes (but I can not capture the bergamot),a bouquet of floral notes, some musk vibes (but not in the same way as JPG LM) and minimal rose pepper. The whole thing is very fresh, floral and sweet and less or not at all spicy and woody. In my nose is a little bit synthetic and it reminds me shower gel fragrances also, but this is not bad at all.My wife noticed that there is also a feminine vibe and she would like to wear it sometimes.
The opening is strong enough, the lovgevity satisfying (about 5 hours in my skin) and the sillage average. It is an every day, versatile fragrance for the warm weather.
Do I like it?Definitely, YES.
It is my Mediterranean fougere.

The return of the 90s aquatic
Picked this one up for dirt cheap at a local drugstore earlier this year, and after going through about a quarter of my bottle over the summer, I think I've got this one decently pinned.

First of all, I like it. It's an easy-breezy, easy-to-pleasey, aromatic, sweet fruity floral musk marketed to MEN if you can believe it - which is literally a breath of fresh air in a day and age when synthetic bubblegum citruses and super sweet woody ambers blanket modern retailers and discounters. But don't kid yourself, nothing about this one smells natural to me in any way. Instead, it's precisely how "blue" fragrances used to be composed in the 90s, when masculine FLORALS were the basis of everyday freshies like L'eau d'Issey Pour Homme, Acqua di Gio and CK One. And although this one doesn't smell like any of them (maybe a touch of 212 for men), the style is certainly recognizable.

The opening blast is almost leafy-green. My mind quickly jumps to a mix of violet leaf and bergamot, but with a blunted fruity edge - nothing sharp. Within a few seconds, soap from the 90s comes to mind, followed by a trip to the fragrance counter at a big-box store or perhaps a bathroom countertop laden with a smattering of scented hygeine products. It's a nostalgic feeling without a doubt, and the general association is absolutely of cleanliness; but nothing about it screams "cologne", "perfume", "high class", "night-out" or "luxury". On the contrary, it's far more along the lines of a scented product grabbed off of the shelf at a local pharmacy like a bottle of fruity floral shampoo, conditioner or those plug-in air freshners for the living room. Not exactly cheap....but certainly on the budget-friendly side of perfumery.

But here's the kicker - if ever there was a scent that epitomized the idea of stepping "out of the shower" - regardless of gender or age - this would be it. Without question. In fact, modern sweet and gummy, blue shower gel style fragrances have nothing on this one in the bathroom. The aromatic effervescence added by the pink pepper keeps the white florals popping for a solid 4-5 hours and prevents the fragrance from ever going into the heavy, sweet woody direction that's often associated with grounded masculinity. Combined with that greenness in the background on a bed of clean musk, there really is nothing to dislike about the scent. The only change is that it becomes slightly sweeter in the sillage with time, but the transition is virtually seamless, and the projection is very good for a freshie. It's quite literally the quintessential embodiment of 1990s unisex aquatic, perfectly distilled and refined for the 21st century.

And fitting with that theme, I think they absolutely nailed the aesthetic. The box is clean and neat, the bottle is sheer and minimalistic, the liquid colour screams AQUA and the heavy plasitc cap fits snuggly and is beautifully embossed on the top. Basically, just take the juvenile sweet, fruity lavender-vanilla out of YSL's Y edt, and you've got your nearest competitor. And what a great atomizer too - decently sensitive and shoots out a massive dose of juice every time. Love it. Especially in the warmer months when more is often warranted.

Unfortunately, nothing about the scent makes me think "fougere" or anything Italian. I'll admit, it has that european soapiness to it, but in the absence of coumarin, oakmoss or barbershop lavender (or spicy amber for that matter), the name just doesn't fit. Not that it matters. But with the whole fougere=masculine association, it could be a bit misleading - because this stuff could easily be taken for a women's perfumed hair product at a distance. Which....is perhaps why I enjoy it so much???

Yes indeed, in a day and age when every male-targeted freshie must conform to the Dior Sauvages, Bleu-de-whatevers and Mr. bubblegum borings, here comes a legit piece of aquatic floral nostalgia from an era of perfumery I thought to be long forgotten. I absolutely can't give Ferre enough props for that. And did you notice that it doesn't say "For Men" anywhere on the box or bottle? Yeah, screw gender. LOL Unfortunately, with a juice quality that I might consider to be one or two steps above an Adidas fragrance...let's just say that there was room for improvement. Otherwise, if you're looking for a straight-up burst of lasting, bargain floral-fresh soap from the 90s, you probably won't do better than Fougere Italiano. "Out-of-the-shower" in a bottle. Ciao ciao.

Violet leaf, powdery heliotrope, a smidge of calone. All give birth to an elegant linden blossom fragrance.

Quasi-fruity 90's white floral-musk, but very ozonic...almost violet leaf-ish? Perfectly unisex but with familiar bathroom product vibes.
