Not as cuttingly cool as I thought
Here again a small flea market find, which I had taken for lack of alternatives for small money simply times. Of course my expectations were under the freezing point and I had something similar to Alaska by Axe - an average Cool Water clone.
It doesn't quite work, though. Yes - Arctic Ice is an aquatic-fresh fragrance, but not so with its ice-cuttiness, but surrounded by nest-warming spice and finalised woodiness, very discreetly sweetened and mature enough. Halt for all those who really already may or must shave. Or just want to buy their scented water inconspicuously at the supermarket. This is more than ok, and is more attractive than just smelling of water or shaving foam, even if Arctic Ice fluctuates a little into the synthetic, which one should accept at the price at that time.
No, you shouldn't seriously expect durability and room-filling Sillage, but Arctic Ice is history anyway and I don't think that with this comment I'm making someone's buying decision.
What surprises me is not even the fact that the brand Gillette (exactly - with the seldom stupid slogan "for the best in men") sells After Shaves, which is fitting, but that Arctic Ice now only sells as deodorant in other countries. Might be a little far from the main theme of shaving, but it seems to be running.
What would interest me besides times are the completely old smells of Gillette from the 60's, when one wanted to perhaps even seriously what in things fragrance to contribute. They started earlier than the eternal wet shave rival Wilkinson Sword and maybe still had the nose in front.
