The Mystery of Roses
Roses come in so many colors and variations, all beautiful to look at.
But many "modern" roses unfortunately hardly smell anymore.
I therefore prefer the "old varieties", which like to give off their wonderful spicy floral scent.
But the scent of roses is not the same as the scent of roses.
Different varieties, different odeurs. And the scent of roses is composed of more than 400 individual components.
A very noble, but also natural rosy scent was composed by Maurice Roucel for Armani.
No "rose monsters" from any aldehydes, but the very fine and "spicy" full aroma of roses, only enriched with incense, dark vanilla and some exotic spices, which serve as "accessories", but are indispensable for the overall aroma of "Onde Mystère" The rose itself carries the entire composition, and is the real "mystery".
The fragrance changes from initially "fruity" to extremely flowery to darkly spicy, just as the flowers themselves vary when you sniff them on the shrub. It's like "head, heart, and base notes in a stand-alone perfume.
Soliflor in versatile. Hardly any other flower has such a full "program" as wild roses or Turkish/Bulgarian roses.
Whether it is due to the climate, the soil, or other conditions, I don't know exactly.
Central European" varieties, especially the English ones, are also top when it comes to fragrance, but a bit different again.
In the "Onde Mystère" dark red varieties were used guaranteed, because their aroma is intense.
The amber, which I can still perceive well at the end, is their supportive "partner", slightly woody, with fine "green" parts it fits perfectly. The "amber wood" is also a mystery in itself.
Probably already millions of years ago their resin "petrified", and formed the popular amber.
This one doesn't smell like that, but if you "warm it up", you can guess it....
Beautiful, unobtrusive and yet remarkable eau de parfum for many occasions....
