Green, Floral & Woody - What more could a girl want?
Overall, Extravagance is fresh, green, contemporary, and unusual. I wasn't expecting this -- Wow, what a delightful surprise. It leaves an impression very similar to Guepard but with a mellower marigold and without the ginger that was irritating to me. The tangerine on top is long lasting too.
Thankfully, Extravagance d'Amarige is neither extravagant nor Amariage. I get a green woody scent that's not overwhelmed by all of its floral notes. The spicy notes of pink pepper and marigold are subdued. The jasmine & orange blossom really come through for me, and that's not such a good thing for my chemistry. There's a bit of soapiness that's reflective of its 1990s creation date, I think. However, it's not stuck in the 1990s. Rather, it's classic.
Extravagance is wearable in any season, day or night, but probably best in Spring and on cooler summer days. Also, it's office-appropriate without being a generic "office fragrance." Long-lasting for an EdT too.
One day when we look back and talk about the great mass-market perfumes of the 1990s, it would not surprise me if Extravagance is mentioned along with Cool Water, Sunflowers, Happy, Realities, and Pleasures.
Sadly, Extravagance is discontinued. The reformulated version (Mythiques Extravagance) is not as strong & not as long lasting. Currently there is still plenty of old stock in the market ... but there will come a time when there's not enough and the price will rise. :( Stock up!
UPDATE: I scored a part bottle of the "perfumed air." The concentration is not marked. However, it feels like an alcohol-free spray and wears wonderfully on me, better than the original. Definitely summer-appropriate. I love it!
