September morning
It is still dark. The air is damp and still very cool. The first kilometers in the short jersey I still shiver, even if a warm day awaits us. The sun is hiding somewhere behind the mountains. Here and there the sky, which slowly wakes up from its sleep, already shows a bit of colour. Whether more red or blue, it may not yet decide so right. The dewdrops glisten as soon as the first daylight hits them. It smells meadow-green and wonderfully fresh. A slight note of deodorant freshness resonates, rather masculine. Did I accidentally reach for his roll-on deodorant today? No matter. The green-herbal scents are joined by a little powder. Quite delicate and soft and rather subtly perceptible. And of course by no means with the potential to be the final enemy. It's nice what happens on the skin. A cosy hint of musk joins in and rounds the whole thing off pleasantly. Quite typical, when the functional shirt gets warm during sports and releases the light scent of washing powder.
Yes, I know. Sounds like a blind test in disguise, but it was not. Even though there is absolutely no mention of green notes anywhere here, I can detect them. And quite clearly. The tangerines, on the other hand, I searched in vain on the back of my hand. I go along with the jasmine and amber, but I find the base superficially musky with a slight powdery tinge. I recognize a few parallels to Volnays Yapana, which, however, has more Wumms and is clearly more characterized by herbaceous notes, especially in the top note.
Beautiful it is, this Vernazza. And smells for me completely different than the notes suggest. The meager evaluation I can therefore not quite understand, but a purchase candidate he would not be for me now. See him also rather on the masculine side, but that is of course always subjective.
On paper, by the way, he comes quite sweet and the green notes hide a bit. Depends perhaps also a bit on the wearer, as he wants to show. Oh yes. Ledrig-woody? Nope. Neither.
Dear thanks to killer bee for the sample.
