Rimini in the 90s
We went for a walk the other day, I wore a black and white striped oversized shirt and 3, 4 splashes of terracotta. Arrived home, I have hung the shirt back on the clothes rail.

Last night, a few days after that walk, I put the shirt back on to get cozy on the couch and a delicately sweet scent kept rising to my nose. What is that please and where did it come from!!!? Scarce 10 minutes I tried to find out where this beautiful smell came from, until I finally !! times on the glorious idea came to sniff my shirt.

This delicately sweet scent transported me back to my Rimini vacation in the 90s yesterday. When the balmy summer breeze wafted a wide variety of sunscreen scents into your nose, but above all, Ambre Solaire coconut scented tanning oil. Oh my god, I loved it. Whether it smells exactly the same today and would still appeal to me - I don't know. Terracotta doesn't just smell coconut either, but Ambre Solaire immediately came to mind, and I reminisced.

Now for Terracotta. Initially, you might assume, probably rightly, the fragrance knocks you out and quickly becomes too much in the summer, because too heavy, too sultry, too flowery-bulky. But it develops so beautifully! The becomes quite creamy, softly floral, delicately sweet, with a touch of fluffy coconut, which you perceive every now and then and which is never too much.

A beautiful fragrance, I will wear it more often now.

In summer, but not on the beach
On my last holiday trip before Corona I tested Soleil Blanc by T. Ford in a perfumery and found it fascinating, but for the price not great enough. It was too overwhelming for me and since then I've been looking for it...my summer scent. I've been through quite a few by now. Monoi , Bronze Goddess, Sun die Gioia, Intense Tiaré.... So now I have come to a bottling of Terracotta.

In Terracotta is the jasmine, immediately perceptible and as I must unfortunately even totally pungent and unpleasant. This was really unexpected for me, the thought of washing everything off immediately was definitely there at the first test. It's not that I don't like jasmine scent, it's just been too much at once for me. This is then but after 10-15 minutes also past and only then I perceive Tiare and Ylang Ylang, quite wonderful.....the coconut holds itself discreetly in the background. Vanilla is there, but so tightly wrapped in all the flowers, so I find that does not take up much space.

I do find Terracotta to be a sweet scent, but not over the top. First and foremost, this is a beautiful, summer floral scent , which just exaggerates a bit at the beginning. Unlike other scents of this type, it evokes the least "sunscreen feeling" or even tropical feelings in me. Of it I perceive here only vibes and that makes him for me much more often tragbar.
So I could already imagine that he moves in at some point with me. Good mood he makes me in all cases!

Jasmine on vacation
After all, we all long for that one scent - that one perfume that evokes an emotion in us. We search and search for that one thought, that one feeling that we had "back then".
Back then under the palm trees in the hanging chair...
Back in that one winter with that one person...
Each of us has a different "then" and each "then" smells different. But what all these moments have in common is that they have managed to burn themselves into our brains. Even if we didn't think about it for years, didn't even feel the situation was special at the moment in question - the moment remains.
For a long time I doubted it when people described such Dèjá Vu's to me. I simply could not imagine how a fragrance could evoke a memory. It's just a perfume after all...

Yet Terracotta did it. Exactly what I never dared to dream has come to pass.

Me 10 years ago
back on our annual vacation to Italy with my family. Every morning, after eating breakfast together in our dinky vacation apartment, we would head to the beach. On the way to the sea, we walked every day past the pool of our holiday apartment, which we used not once. The stone pool was surrounded by jasmine bushes that slowly released their blossoms into the air. Of course, many of these blossoms ended up in the water of the pool and the caretaker did not take his job very seriously. So it happened that the blossoms often gathered in the water overnight, were irradiated by the sun and moved with the waves. The whole thing led to a veritable jasmine wind that blew at you as soon as you so much as glanced at the pool. At the time, I didn't care for the sight or scent of the jasmine flowers. But I never forgot that scent, which I realized the first time I sniffed Terracotta. I was totally blown away by the idea that this perfume is capable of evoking a moment in my mind that I didn't live through for 10 years. I feel pure gratitude for the perfumer and the house of Guerlain. Nothing gives me what Terracotta can give me - nothing at all

At the roadside on the way to the quarry pond
A fragrance that I bought blind. He also had a little hype. Well now I thought, he will already like me, because the fragrance notes sounded good. Unpacked, eingeduftet and tipped over to the back. Phew following memories came up there..
*It's 36 degrees (and getting hotter) and I'm about 17 years old. In these temperatures, of course, I can always be found at the water. In this case not at the sea, but at a lake to which one must drive with the bicycle along a country road. The cookies in the backpack are melted and on the roadside are such funny smelling flowers, the sweltering heat makes the sunscreen on the skin become greasy..oops driven through a pile of feces...*
I'm glad to finally wash it all off.
It's not entirely bad now, if you don't notice certain notes. For me unbearable, although it is a nice memory :-)

Ylang-Ylang Tree in the Philippines
In the prelude Terracotta starts for me with mixed floral splendor of ylang-ylang and tiare. In the beginning, this was a bit too much for me, but after about 20 minutes, the scent becomes much lighter and the coconut is noticeable. Towards the end of the scent progression, the fragrance becomes quite creamy and floral with a hint of green notes.

When I was visiting my mother, she asked me directly what I would wear. The scent reminded her of the ylang ylang tree that stood behind our house in the Philippines and suddenly the scales fell from my eyes. Now I knew why the scent had such a comforting effect on me.

Although the scent didn't seem citrusy or particularly summery to me, it teleported me to vacation in the Philippines, afternoons behind the house, sitting in the shade of all the tropical plants and listening to the stream. Ironically, before this realization, I tended to categorize Terracotta in the dry heat; I've since come to believe that it would work well in very high humidity, as in the Philippines.

Durability is quite decent with me and the sillage also perfectly fine, in the summer I usually also do not like it so violently, to be honest.

Unfortunately, there is the Ylang-Ylang tree behind the house no longer and until the next holiday is pending, it will coronabedingt probably still take a while, meanwhile, I sit down in the German sun, sniff the terracotta, close my eyes and dream myself into the holiday.

Exotic enchantress
Really strong and clingy.

Smells exactly like the traditional tiare' sun tan oils, plus a ton more of tiare'!! No jasmine, sorry, but coconut aplenty.

In the heat, this concoction literally explodes, and will exudes like an erupting volcano from the spots where you sprayed it.
You won't go unnoticed, for in a mile radius Terracotta will announce you to the world!

Do not wear for a romantic dinner, unless you wish to suffocate the other - thinking of which, Terracotta might come handy for a revenge dinner, perhaps? :))

Nonetheless lovely. I just wish it wasn't so in your face.

Quick-change artist!
Wow, I'm in love! The fragrance starts with a lot of jasmine and bergamot.what is probably too much for others here and starts little summery,is a dream for me.i smell very expensive and cultivated,so i always want to smell like this.
But wait, what happened now? Half an hour later, the beguiling scent turns into a summer fairy tale.orange, tiare and very subtle coconut emerge and beam me into the south tropical realm.
I feel warm and soft and secure, the sillage and durability could be even stronger for me, I would even wish for an Intense version For me, a fragrance for every day, even if it were to slay others, I wouldn't care, I think I have found my signature fragrance.

No summer scent, but a scent for the summer
Wow, so mysterious in the headline.
The explanation: a summer scent is fresh, preferably citric, but definitely fruity. Not too strong (heat and exhalations and so on) and cool in sensation.
Terracotta is none of that. No trace of citrusy fresh, no fruit, no light, no delicate.
And still great.
It's unsweet coconut, a little green it is still - where the tongue contracts a little bit when you get something like that in your mouth (the fruit, not the perfume) - almost soapy on the skin. There are slightly bitter substances in it- very pleasant in the heat and replaces the fresh and tropical flowers, which are completely unsweet and unbullient. The feeling in the nose is dry as dust, like dried sun oil.
Terracotta lasts a long time, does not change unpleasantly with the onset of sweat, and is a surprising occasion for compliments from colleagues, especially in hot weather.
In winter on the other hand - a disappointment ;-)

Wonderful summer night combo!
This scent made me amazed from 1st try. Soo magical, suitable for all seasons. Feeling yourself in a tropical holiday. This has lots of hearts in fragrantica. It really deserves this. Im coconut hater but in here its really little pinch of so doesnt annoy you. Wonderful tiare, jasmine, ylang ylang, coconut combo. I dont find it suntan lotion but with affect of coconut and tiare I find it tropical. Best occasion= romantic night with your darling hand in hand light windy /warm cool summer nights. It cant be limited. Please :( and + doesnt have any relate with MONOİ serie from Yves rocher(this one is so MONOİ OİLY + HEAVY COCONUTTY)

Once Matron has sat out...
I had my first encounter with terracotta at the beginning of December in a Husum perfumery. It was the bottle that captivated me with its Mediterranean feel and slightly antique reminiscences. But maybe it was just the longing for a little sunshine in the wet and cold winter in northern Germany that made me ask the saleswoman to have me spray terracotta on a test strip. Who knows? When I held the paper under my nose, the decision was quickly made in favour of the scent. Much too heavy and only then this concentrated floweriness. No. Check. Thanks Two weeks later, in a Kiel branch of the Türkisen (the weather conditions were similarly desolate), I again encounter the sunny bottle. This time he stands in gripping height and allows me a second test without the expectant look of a saleswoman. Why I had to challenge a scent I didn't like at all in the first test a second time can probably not be explained rationally. It's a Guerlain, so he can't be all that terrible. And then there's this bottle again. This sun, this golden glowing content. And after all, some other fragrances had already taught me that sometimes it is time and not the first intuition that can turn aversion into favor. And paper is not skin, so I had to introduce the scent to my wrist. The first five minutes were truly no joy. Flowers. An impenetrable thicket of flowers. Sweet, crunchy flashy, intense. A massive matron, an opera diva in a floor-length satin dress, appears before my inner eye. One can hardly imagine how much strength and how many helping hands were needed to close the long zipper on her back. In her opulent décolleté there is an all the more opulent bouquet of white flowers. Jasmine, neroli, tiaré. And she comes closer and closer, wants to take me in her arms, crush me. No, this is really too much for me. I switch off the head cinema and instead devote myself to Guerlain's Insolence, which I spray on the remaining wrist.
During the drive back to the flat land, I am met again and again by a warm and inviting scent, which is carried by a pinch of coconut and a touch of vanilla. I feel comfortable and secure. My wrist wanders towards my nose and I notice with benevolence that the matron and her flower tourage have left. But it does not leave a battlefield, but a piazza. Somewhere in southern Tuscany, on a beautiful evening in August. Not Siena, this place would be too big and too open. But maybe Montepulciano. It's busy, but not full anymore. The old stones reflect the warmth of the roaring hot summer day and you treat yourself to a small aperitif. The flowers on my skin have interwoven with the other components of the fragrance to form a wonderful unity from which not a single ingredient stands out dominantly or even unpleasantly. What initially seemed to me to be violently sweet and exuberantly flowery has now turned into a creamy soft and incredibly flattering veil.
If I had to capture this fragrance in just two words, it would be warm and solar. I have never been able to experience another fragrance that could have so aptly captured the concept of a warming ray of sunlight olfactorically as terracotta. That is why this fragrance is not a summer scent for me. If I sat on this very piazza in Montepulciano, scented with terracotta, I would probably die of heat exhaustion. But on this sunny January day in the middle of the northern German nowhere, terracotta is my summery straw that makes me dream of the August evening in Montepulciano. By the way, this also works very well in drizzle and stormy wind. As soon as I wear terracotta, this scent seems to manipulate something at my synapses, suppressing my sensation of cold. Terracotta is therefore for me the scent of the tired of winter, longing for the light of summer.
As far as durability and silage are concerned, you have to admit that terracotta simply performs well. In contrast to me, he survives an eight-hour working day without signs of fatigue and is still clearly visible on my scarf even after three days. As far as Sillage is concerned, less here means more. With three sprays you are clearly noticed, if you overdose it, you run the risk that the matron and her bosom bouquet will be back at the door very quickly.

WOW! This smells tropical, lush, and expensive. My only complaint: I wish it lasted longer, as I only get an hour or two out of it.
