Winnie the Pooh and the Sea Breeze
Nettare di Sole is one of the two latest pranks from the Aqua Allegoria series of Guerlain - this is the series in which every year about 2 new rather summery fragrances are thrown on the market and for about 2 others bless their time.
But there are still several in the program, which existed since the beginning of this series, which is probably due to their consistent success, but especially their quite high quality and originality: Pampelune and Herba Fresca are simply good. Ylang vanilla I still mourn after and others never really touched me and therefore they can stay stolen from me.
Nettare di Sole I was quite curious about - honey in an aquatic summer scent! How can that go?
It goes excellent.
First I noticed a slight salt note, which adequately introduces the aquatic. A light, floral freshness spreads, but not so much that it covers the sea breeze, which foams and toasts on.
So goes a summer fragrance!
(Embrun's Ylang has a minimal resemblance to Nettare, but you can tell - and not just by the higher price - that it's more substantial and not as playfully fresh.)
Honey:
Very popular with Guerlain, in many fragrances and care tone-setting, plays a different role here. He accompanies the fresh notes in its most unsweet form, provides a balancing counterpoint to the spray, makes the fragrance softer and guerlainiger, without usurping the reigns.
The base is reminiscent of sunscreen, which also makes it appealing to me.
Summer 2021 - don't get me in trouble, like, lockdown throughout or something!
And if I do, then I bathe in Nettare di Sole, because that makes a good mood.
