Nectar AND ambrosia!
The latest prank from the house of Guerlain is once again a La petite robe noire flanker. This is a fact that made me now - although old fangirl - not really fuzzy.
How many variations on a theme does the market need and tolerate? How many barely different flacons do I need?
In the end, curiosity, irrationality and good old addiction won out.
(Add to that the fact that I don't push honey off the edge of my bed in fragrances, see various recent Gaultiers, good old 80s Wumms Poison, and of course some honey-heavy scents that come from the same poison kitchen as LPRN Nectar. All of which have been lodgers with me for varying lengths of time and have caused my shelves to collapse.)
Nectar - I associate it with colourful flower meadows, where the little bees and the fairies float around and dance a round dance rejoicingly around the blossoms. In fact, I smell in the first few minutes the pure, little sweet, unadulterated flower honey, only interspersed with bits of honeycomb. Very nice. The LPRN DNA is there, yes - but just as a base, a background, a sidekick. The scent is starting to morph into a Greek dessert.
Ambrosia - there it is.
The ultimate sweet dish of the gods. Has nothing to do with flabby green pudding, this heavenly food, which also makes immortal!
I don't know what back in ancient Greece, more precisely Olympus, Mr. and Mrs. God so considered 'ambrosia', at Guerlain it's an unearthly-sweet mixture of almond, "macaron" (what kind? I already know about 20, and that in the biblical sense!) and tonka bean. Topped with a little Turkish rose jam.
A treat, it's safe to say - and the sweetest of all the LPRNs so far. (Hippie Chic is on the other end of the calorie scale.)
If I mentioned Poison at the outset, though, LPRN Nectar is far from that, more along the lines of Poison Girl.
Only after a couple of hours I find LPRN Nectar really nice, namely when it starts to remind me of Coromandel. Because that's when the patch comes in and nestles softly against the roses and sweetness...reminding me of how I found clear signs of Guerlain in the latest Exclusiv-Chanel Le Lion the other day. Coromandel very similar LPRN Nectar is not, it's impossible to say. But maybe Coromandel "Girl"....
