Waiting in the garden

My garden already spoils me with the scents of lilac and snowballs, but the roses are still dreaming of their appearance.

I'm waiting for their fragrance and their colorfulness
But today I entered the perfumery in search of a lovely rose scent to sweeten my waiting time.

And "sweetened" is the magic word, because Mon Guerlain Bloom of Rose is rose-sweet in an enchanting way.

I am reminded of my pink rose bushes " Leonardo da Vinci " - which will soon show up with their vivid colour as well as their delicious fragrance.
Bloom of Rose is a taste of that.

The pear keeps the fragrance clear and flowing and lavender adds calm.
Vanilla softly rounds off the rose scent - and maintains its authenticity.
Lovely and unsaponifiable it blossoms towards me.
Voluminous - but not heavy or even loud.
The rose red or rather rose pink remains clear - but unobtrusive.

Roses - as well as lavender scents have a calming effect anyway - and this combination is very successful.

Scent that needs time to blossom

In my search for a spring scent for everyday life, a Douglas employee suggested various scents to me last spring. Many things were too sweet or too woody for me.
This one on the other hand was really fresh and flowery, so I tested it on the skin. Then as now, it always works the same way on my skin; I find the top note pungent and slightly synthetic. But if I give the fragrance about 10 minutes to half an hour to unfold, it becomes a pleasant floral companion, which smells to me like the first sunny days of spring, when the sun shines through rain-drenched windows and watered roses The more time passes, the softer the fragrance becomes.
The fragrance is suitable for those who are looking for a floral, bright and gentle companion for the day and are looking forward to spring. In summer you can also wear the fragrance well. I find it unsuitable for autumn and winter.
I associate the scent with a good-humoured, dreamy young woman who is always smiling. And so the fragrance also has an effect on my mind - mood-lifting.

For a quite fresh scent the durability is ok, the normal Mon Guerlain lasts much longer in my opinion.

At the moment I sometimes combine the fragrances to make this one a little creamier.

Conclusion: I like wearing it quite a bit, but it is not my favourite scent. Okay for everyday life, but doesn't look particularly formal but dreamy. Certainly not everyone's thing. Very different from the original Mon Guerlain.

Liquorice with roses

This perfume smells too much like licorice for me, kind of extraordinary, but also not so that I want to wear this often.

Rose comes along lightly, but fresh for it, would be nicer if the licorice was not so in the foreground.

Otherwise, I find it also not abnormal, there are worse.

In principle, the perfume reminds me of Turkish rosewater candy that you mix with licorice, I would never eat the combination

Cookies and vintage soap

At first I found this version of Mon Guerlain a tad disappointing and had difficulties detecting it. I think this might be one of those scents that "get lost" in hot weather and need cooler air to really bloom.

The rose and lavender in this feel clean, dry and powdery in the opening, like those old-fashioned bar soap that come wrapped in paper with vintage-inspired prints. Later the relation to Mon Guerlain starts to become noticeable. The scent turns quite vanillic on my skin, more so than on a paper blotter, even a bit caramelized and cookie-ish. It's an interesting blend together with the soapy, absolutely non-edible smelling florals.

This is a good flanker that keeps parts of the original fragrance, but also adds a twist to it. Neither too close, nor too unrelated. I like it, but it's not my absolute favorite in this genre. I own a bottle of Mon Guerlain's predecessor, Mon Exclusif, which leans more into the gourmand aspects of the line's DNA. My small quip with Bloom of Rose is that everything could be a little richer and more defined, so the contrast of floral soapiness and warm vanilla would have more of an impact. The way it is, it feels a bit too understated.

Syrupy lavender in a bed of roses

To me, this is one of the most comforting scents I own, perhaps due to the lavender note?

I mainly get the smell of some sort of lavender (vanilla)syrup drizzled on top of fragrant, freshly picked red and white roses. My nose does not distinctly detect the jasmine or pear notes, they are very much in the background, as supporting notes to round up the scent.

The longevity of it is crazy on my skin, I sprayed it it at 5pm, while at home* and could still smell it until I decided to shower the next day (I'd say I did around 2pm or so... hey, we all deserve a lazy day every now and then hahah) and lasted Days on my pullover.

It projects quite nicely as well, without being overwhelming. So, people around you can smell it while you leave a soft, pleasant scent trail during the first 5-6 hrs. It performs quite nicely and if you decide to wear it for work/Uni/school, it will definitely carry you throughout the day.

I would say this can easily be an all-year-round scent because of its warm and cosy, yet freshly floral nature, I might personally go a little light on the sprays during a hot day and would probably skip it during a heat wave. But if you enjoy it, then go for it and enjoy it whenever you feel like :)
