Worthy successor, or...?
First of all, I'm a big fan of Drakkar Noir. That great fougere from the early 80s. It was a style-defining fragrance. So when I bought Drakkar Intense at the local M*leer for €20 per 100 ml, I was excited. I only know the Noir from the series. Not the others.

The color of the liquid in the oval transparent bottle is clear and brownish. The cap looks cheap and the sprayer does what it should.

Citrus and herbs immediately after spraying. Lavender and then moss. The coriander at the beginning is peppery. The lavender comes into its own in the drydown. It is warm and ambery the whole time. In the base, a beautifully realized moss with clean musk.
I also detect vanilla here. Which is a big minus point. It makes the Intense simply interchangeable with many others. This sweetness ruins a higher rating for me here.
I often find vanilla overloaded and often used in an inflationary way in modern fragrances.

Nonetheless, a modern, warmly ambered fougere with a contemporary appearance. Solid. Not a particularly intense fragrance. Rather standard.

Can be done. Definitely worth a longer try as an everyday fragrance.

You can make the comparison with Noir, but you shouldn't. There are 40 years in between. I think the Intense is perfectly fine as an office fragrance for the colder half of the year.

Simply solid.

And to answer the initial question, no. Not a worthy successor. A solid, independent fragrance that is based on a classic but does not try to replace or copy it.

Thank you for reading.

Drakkar Intense
Drakkar Intense is often described as a sophisticated, masculine fragrance that exudes confidence and allure. It's suitable for both casual and formal occasions and is well-liked by those who appreciate a fragrance with a robust and alluring presence.

Top Notes: The scent opens with a fresh burst of mint and lavender, which provides a cool and invigorating introduction.

Heart Notes: The heart of the fragrance is characterized by spicy and warm undertones of cinnamon, sage, and juniper. These notes give the fragrance depth and complexity.

Base Notes: The base notes feature an array of woody and musky elements, including patchouli, cedarwood, and vetiver. These provide a solid foundation for the fragrance and contribute to its long-lasting nature.

The renaissance of Drakkar Noir
Everyone who deals with perfumes knows Drakkar Noir or has at least heard of it. A cheapy from the 80s . Fresh, Fouger classic barbershop in my eyes with a certain spice. From Heutiger point of view quite old-fashioned but somehow then again timeless ... With the Orginal Drakkar from the 70s has the Intense quite little to do and probably also from a financial point of view, the Intense is oriented more to the big brother from the 80s. The DNA is clearly recognizable. However, less obtrusive. Something dignified more modern halt .
I'm honest I have with the Orginal at the beginning could not start much it was me too "hard" to "in your face" this shaving cream DNA has somehow smelled like so nen old leich musty bathroom where someone had just showered and then shaved. I must say, however, that I miss exactly THAT with the Intense again ... it does not have this "Punsh" it is there in the background quasi as a foundation but then much warmer, woody has ne slight Booziness ... For the fall and winter certainly TOP! For the summer but would still prefer the orginal because it simply has this slightly dirty barbershop Punsh ... which is now really grown to my heart !

The performance is solid ! For the price you can not complain and me the time when a bischeb air in the bottle is there will mature again ... for fans of the original certainly worth a try and for all those looking for a modern perfume with vintage touch also the right!
2023 is anyway the year of the "Elixir" xD everyone comes with a stronger more intense version around the corner as a vintage fan I like that ! YSL I look at you ! Where is the Kouros Intense/Elixir ...

Not really original
There have been more warnings than recommendations about Drakkar Noir in previous reviews - it seems as if the current version is trying in vain to counter the legendary reputation of the original version among fans from back then. Nevertheless, I bought a bottle of "Noir" in the summer and am quite happy with it. As we know from numerous texts here, everything used to be better in the world of fragrances. The fragrances had greater longevity and sillage and were more distinctive. The current "Noir" still does its job well and at 25 euros for 100ml was very reasonably priced. Nostalgia is wonderful, but the reality is: you just have to live with what's available, and I think there are many more expensive and worse fragrances on the shelves than "Noir".

But maybe the relatively new flanker "Intense" will do the trick? Tasted it for the first time today. I had become very curious due to the insightful reviews of my predecessors on Parfumo and hoped for a special experience, after all: The name Drakkar obliges! Would this build a bridge to the old legend?

It would be unfair to say that I was disappointed. "Intense" is another fragrance in the solid mid-range segment, like "Noir". But unfortunately not really original, not a revelation. After spraying it on, you really think you have CK Obsession for Men in your nose - I found the parallels to be incredibly striking. After half an hour, when the Obsession layer had largely evaporated, the familiar "Noir" came into play as a second layer and then stayed.

Because I already own CK Obsession and use it regularly and with pleasure, I didn't buy "Intense". It's too close. you certainly don't need both "Noir" and "Intense". And despite its proud name, I didn't really feel that "Intense" was noticeably more intense than "Noir" in terms of longevity/sillage. I would rather recommend buying a bottle of Obsession if you like this scent, which has more power.

Clear verdict: recommended to try. If you like fragrances dubbed "old school powerhouse", you could definitely be happy with "Intense".

A nice fresh fougère with absinth in the opening. Dries down to a vanilla-suede accord. The more i wear it, the more i like it. 3/5

An amberry, spicy soapy frag. Similar to Azzaro Intense but nicer. This is good.

A simple, honest and nice smell on a budget. I would not wear it, it´s too generic, smells literally like anything else on the market.
