I keep coming back
I tried 10 samples of various Heeley fragrances. Cardinal blew me away, and was my favorite. Vetiver Veritas is a close second.

The opening is spectacular. I get the freshest, juiciest mint - as if you gripped a bunch of mint leaves in your hand and squeezed until the juice ran down your wrist. And then a blast of fruit - not just citrus, but also fresh raspberries and strawberries. These top notes last for about 30 minutes.

Vetiver is the star for the rest of the show. Earthy, spicy, clean, just slightly smokey. Green. Fresh. Mysterious.

Completely unisex. Good projection and longevity, especially as compared to other Heeley fragrances. Unique but not weird.

I would absolutely buy a full bottle, but for some reason this fragrance only comes in 50ML, and is priced the same as the other Heeley fragrances, which are all sold at 100ML. Can't see why this is double the cost, even if it contains "only natural" ingredients...

Minimalist vetiver
This vetiver is dark green, somber, minimalist. Not far from Encre Noire, just less gloomy and -in my case- less headache inducing. It has a few mint leaves in the opening for refreshment and a bitter-sour grapefruit in the background. Actually I found the grapefruit note the more interesting part of the fragrance. Listed as a base note? Hmm yeah it actually makes sense.

Heeley claims that Vetiver Veritas is made of 100% natural ingredients and a composition with over 90% Haitian Vetiver of exceptional quality. Boy oh boy. It didn't make a difference, at least in my perception.

Joni Mitchell in the log cabin
It slowly turns out that I obviously have a weakness for Heeley fragrances: I like the clear announcement, the variations on the main theme, where there is always something unexpected playing along... there is simply no fuss about it. And the rest is skillful.
Vetiver Veritas enters the arena like a lumberjack: he is clearly standing in the log cabin door, shining all over his face, bringing half a forest with him and rumbling a loud "MOIN! And then he sits down at your table and begins to tell you quiet stories, you talk about delicious recipes, listen to Joni Mitchell's "Mingus" together...

I like that clear vetiver scent. I searched for a long time for a for me portable variant of the topic and found it here. For me not as old-fashioned as Guerlain's classics, but rounder, clearer, more communicative. Vetiver is very prominent here, but gets a polish by a colouring that is quite surprising for me: lavender leaves. Not the usual fragrance square from the sleeping aids, but the fine, balsamic sweetness of grated lavender leaves - that's great! I hardly notice the mint, nor the grapefruit of the base, but the scent sounds like warm, charred wood to me - not smoky, but deep and dark. And this even after a long working day after 9 hours.

I found my second direct hit here, the bottle comes right next to the "Cardinal" on the shelf

So this is a non-offensive, spicy vetiver scent that would suit a person in one's middle age for business occasions. Smells classy, unique.
