Halfway solid needled
While a sniff at the tester still seemed to point to a representative from the (CdG)-'Hinoki' direction, nothing is to be noticed after the order. Instead, there is a strong layer of fir and pine cut, mighty green. However, something ethereal is added quickly and produces an aura of bronchial ointment. Doesn't help? Well then we just let the ethereal disappear and push sugary sweetness in: The cough syrup is ready.
Only an hour or two later does a (frankincense?) acidity make me think more woody again: green, soft needles. More like Douglas fir. The latter is mainly present via the back door, so to speak, because the remaining trace of sweetness goes through cum löfflo zuckris now as fir honey.
In the early afternoon the cautious incense seems to me to be substituted by the vetiver acidity sometimes observed in such cases, which in turn gradually gives way to light wood. Reminds us a little of 'Scandalwood' from the same house - not least because of the remaining Vetiver swab, for which we should be grateful at this point. The oakmoss, on the other hand, is unfortunately very reserved (if at all). I have experienced this in other American fragrances more generously portioned. If I had wished today too, the natural stuff can finally do something!
Conclusion: Here, the needles, greens and woods are halfway solid. Deeper impression made the smell on me however not.
I thank KingLui for the rehearsal.
