The scent of the great wide world
When I was a child, this was the slogan of a well-known cigarette brand: a shiny silver airplane took off into the morning/evening red(?) and the longing truly traveled with me.
First this advertising appeared in magazines, later - underlined with the corresponding noises of the starting machine - also on television.
How did I love these moments where I little guy wanted me to be able to fly along and also be so free!

It's been a long time and yet this fragrance from Histoires de Parfums reminds me of a journey through the world of fragrances. Whether with or Jules Verne, to whom this creation is dedicated.

The freshness, actually coolness, of eucalyptus carries this fragrance composition. Now the essential oils extracted from the leaves are also very strong and have a correspondingly refreshing effect and also relieve the respiratory tract.
Even if the Australians claim that their koalas are more or less "stoned" by the one-sided consumption of these leaves and thus justify their quasi immobility.
Well, it's not impossible to watch these motionless teddy bears sitting there for a long time.

Now this eucalyptus does not intoxicate in such a way; but it leads nevertheless through the citric nuances, under which the tangerine places light traces. Here "1828 - Jules Verne" gets a little softer, for a moment even a little sweetish.
A visit to the Spice Islands leaves a great deal of black pepper in the mixture; this too cools and the aromatic spice dose of nutmeg grinds off the hard, cool edges of this mixture.
The aromas of the base note bring green and wood into the fragrance and a wonderful matching portion of incense: without incense, which lies as a smoky veil over the whole, "1828 - Jules Verne" would be missing the "certain something".

Now this journey is classified by the cooling, fresh aromas as men's fragrance.
As this he is definitely an evergreen; for whether in the office, on the building site, on the hike - "1828 - Jules Verne" actually always fits.
I have tested this powerful fragrance creature on myself several times and found a pleasant companion that is almost a little too fresh for these first cool autumn days.
But at some point cedar with its mild spiciness passes the other companions by and so a female side of this fragrance shows up on my skin.

Conclusion: "1828 - Jules Verne" is unagitated, sympathetic and also accompanies me as a woman without great body heat with a certain nonchalance.
So a thoroughly friendly scent that clears your head and lets your thoughts travel:
"Always ready to take off!"

Flattering Masculinity
At first you can perceive an intense, fresh - ethereal, discreetly sweet note, which appears very soft, a little silky and is due to the eucalyptus.

At the same time a fine sweet - fruity note is perceptible, which brings with it a pleasant acidity and comes from the grapefruit.

These two notes are accompanied by a beautiful, slightly bitter - greenish, fruity nuance, which evokes the image of a not yet fully ripened mandarin with its skin and comes from the tangerine
The lemon and lime round off the top note wonderfully.

This constellation is perceptible on my skin for 20 minutes before the heart note unfolds.

The eucalyptus is in the heart note a little more dimmed, but still very well perceptible and unites with a very beautiful aromatic, slightly warm woody note to a fine flattering masculine whole and the Muskat is to be owed
In the background a delicate, invigorating spicy nuance rounds off the heart note pleasantly, which supports the flattering aura wonderfully and comes from the white pepper, which was used in such a way that you don't get sneezing attacks, but it tickles your nose quite discreetly the closer you smell to your skin.

The heart note is perceptible on my skin for 4 hours before the base asserts itself.

Now a light, slightly citric, resinous note is perceptible, which gives the base something clarifying and comes from incense
The incense is very softly, slightly woodsy underlined by the cedar and also gets a sweetish, tart touch from the vetiver.

These 3 notes are supported by a fresh, woody, woody nuance that lets the fragrance fade away wonderfully and comes from the pine cones.

1828 - Jules Verne is a great companion in the spring, summer and autumn months for the man over 30 who is looking for an ethereal, sweet, fruity, aromatic, spicy, resinous and woody scent that possesses a flattering masculinity.

In total, the fragrance lasts 7 hours on my skin.

The Sillage is conceived from the outset in such a way that one is perceived well at a half arm length and this is maintained also 3 hours in such a way, before it reduces itself in quiet steps, until the smell finally completely fades away
I would like to express my sincere thanks to our perfume "Zirkeltanz" for the rehearsal.

Men's scent meets woman
This is my first trial to write a review in English. I chose a men's scent because at a first sight of a scent I pay attention to the name followed by the summary of the fragances. Jules Verne the romantic author of science fiction novels. When I was a child I read them almost all. They seemed to me only old-fashioned but thrilling phantasy-stories. But now I recognize the humour and the political absurdities not only of those times. I even recognize the surrealism of the stories as well. Reading Jules Verne now is a different excitement with different fun because of knowing a lot more of history, science and philosphy. Clearly I expected a special tangy scent: Except of pine and mint it contents no fragances of the middle of Europe. But pine is my favorit coniferous tree and incence is one of my favorit fragances. If Jules Verne imagined to travel round the world within 80 days this collection of fragances reflects this. When I tested this parfume dedicated to Jules Verne the first time it teared away my breath. 1828 is like firy ice. At the same time it is the cool pine-forest in the high mountain and the sparkling eucalytus-trees while they are burning in Australia. Cool smoking incense in a catholic church and the arid scent of the areas in Africa where the scent trees are growing mixed up with the vetiver of South-Asia. 1828 smells clear, rough, smoky, hot and cold. Neither lovely flowers nor sweet fruits are cheering up the senses. Here we are almost landing at the moon. A long time later the grapefruit, the lemon and the tangerine appear softening and calming down the furious travel of fragances. Now the fast travel of Jules Vernes comes to an end and stands still to the more meditative view of the "Green Beam" a humorous love-story of Jules Verne. Lemon-green, something sweet and a little pouder-smell are appearing. At the end of the story the men are looking mesmerized at the green beam. The only woman who forced the men to search for the exact moment of the raising of the green beam is obeying one of these men...
1828 Jules Verne is a scent which rouses me out of exhaustion. It does not calm me at all.

Traditional woody-spicy
Histoires de Parfums dropped the "Jules Verne" addition to the name 1828, which is likely a wise decision. This is not quite as adventurous as you might expect from a perfume with that subtitle. Here we have some old-school manly man stuff. It does what it is supposed to do and it does so properly, without going off-track or taking risks.

1828 is basically a woody-spicy that goes from cool eucalyptus-citrus to lukewarm incense-woods. Nutmeg and black pepper are the spices of choice here. Particularly strong in the opening, giving off that traditional masculinity together with those fresher notes. That razor-sharp freshness wears off pretty fast and then the various woody notes take over, with a little incense for support.

If you are looking for a bit of traditional spicy freshness, this may be for you. I will leave it at this one time.

Spicy woody scent with an awesome nutmeg note.
Very typically masculine with its woods and citrus, but more interesting than most for the aforementioned spice and a fresh eucalyptus note. Highly recommended for fans of traditional masculines.

Clean and "masculine" in a traditional cologne kind of way, citrus and eucalyptus up front. Love the dry down nutmeg note.
