The Dream Of An Endless Summer
If you're wondering what an old bad boy like me is doing with a buddy scent, read on. First, Hollister is a brand I've known for over a decade. To be exact, I fell in love with the fragrance I breathed in stores about ten years ago, so much so that I bought it. And I'm talking about SoCal Cologne. Since then, I have bought no other perfumes of the same brand, apart from it, which I still own today and I adore. Until the other day, when I made up my mind and tested the three fragrances of the Hollister's Festival collection for him. I only tried Festival Vibes for Him and Festival Nite for Him as Party had recently arrived in the store, and they didn't have the tester. Having a 50% discount available, I ventured into a bulk purchase and then blindly took all three but Party. And since I couldn't resist, I opened it first, and now I want to describe it to you. The official website depicts it as fresh, aquatic, aromatic, marine, and young. I find it important to say that the three perfumes are not flankers of each other, and each perfume has a different aroma from the others.

Ouch, Festival Party takes off with a blast of alcohol, very strong and in the face. Be aware and wait a moment before smelling it. Then, luckily, a pleasant citrus note of lemon mixed with salty pepper replaces the alcoholic edge, with a clear blue lavender playing in the background. The first impression is an interesting summer cologne with fresh and aquatic undertones. Because of the very gorgeous, eye-catching light red box and featuring the mango element, I was expecting something exotic, overly sweet, and fruity. Instead, this scent opens up fresh and peppery, with a hint of nuanced mango that's nowhere near as sweet as I feared. Think unripe mango-flavoured water where the feeling is there but not the sweetness. So far, so good. Well, something familiar about that smell reminds me of another scent. I bet it is the mango, which has been used the same way in another fragrance. In the initial stage, the pepper and lemon mix stands out.

The scent turns mossy, aquatic, and still slightly fruity as time goes by. The heart releases whiffs of dewy flowers, which I guess are the waterlily blossoms, with a marine-like mossiness akin to algae and calone without the melon nuance. Of course, the green mango lingers around, not prominent but present. The middle stage merges sea and fruit.

Finally, the cologne dries to the earthy base of clean patchouli, enhanced by the presence of amber and a sweetish wood like guaiac. This final aroma stays long and lingers on the skin. As I said above, the perfume reminds me of another fragrance, and I think I'm not mistaken if I say that the fruity part in which the mango participates is very similar to the sensations released by Escape for Men Eau de Toilette, the reformulated version in my possession. Same vibe, without the riot of aromatic herbs.

Festival Party dresses well in the scorching heat of outdoor summer afternoons and evenings. Most likely, the formula also includes a portion of Iso E Super because I still feel puffs of fragrance even when it's not as strong on my skin anymore. It has good duration, certainly more than half a day, and at the beginning, it also has a good projection. Promoted unexpectedly!

I base the review on a 50ml bottle I have owned since August 2022.
