Well Balanced

I wear the men's version but I'm wanting to buy this for my girlfriend. I finally got to take her to the perfume shop to test it on her skin. Wow! I love this. It really does complement it's male counterpart very well. I love how L'eau D'issey develops but manages to retain the freshness of the top notes. It's very well balanced. It's rare to find a feminine fragrance that isn't too sweet. You can wear this for any occasion. It smells modern. It's a tad sweet on top with a lovely floral heart anchored by amber and cedar. I will buy this for her soon when I go to buy a new bottle of the male version. When I smell it, I think of a wedding dress. Take that imagery as you wish.

L'eau bissée

L'eau d'Issey is such an iconic fragrance, it’s one of those scents that defines an era. So when I realised I had just sprayed on the Eau de Parfum flanker, my first reaction was why an EdP?
The answer - of course - is to rake in the money. Nevertheless, unlike many flankers that are there just to feed the machine this one seems to have integrity.

It’s for those with a Love–Hate relationship with Eau d’Issey; who admire the ground breaking innovation - that washed away the excess of the 80’s - but don't like the chemical sillage it leaves in its wake.

The EdP is a rather plain reworking that puts to right some of the faults of the original. It’s an aquatic lily-melon-citrus bouquet, with a fluffy tonka-like sanding. This softens the angles and leaves it calmer, less strident, an older and wiser Eau d’Issey; a humble version of one of the most austere perfumes that ever made it to the big league.

Is this a better Eau d’Issey? I’m not sure about that, but it is a more wearable, user friendly one - despite the same underlying chemical feel.
