In Cascalone we trust - Or: Smell like a rocky beach at low tide.
As a big fan of Issey Miyake's fragrance creations, this one was of course a must-buy for me. The name "Oceanic Expedition" hits the nail on the head.
Opening: naturally citrus fresh, yuzu contributes a nice acidity that reminds me a little of freshly squeezed grapefruit juice, mountain moth provides a slightly soapy note, which comes olfactory like the foam the sea water leaves behind when the waves flow back on the beach.
Heart note: Absolutely unsynthetic, very clearly oceanic, salty & after dimethyl sulfide (which is nothing other than the substance that the bacteria in seawater excrete...) - smells incredibly close to a seaweed-covered rock with seawater gently lapping around it. Ginger adds the necessary tangy-hot spice kick.
Base: sandalwood & musk comes in at the very end for me & evens out the scent beautifully, these two notes add a woodiness that is a perfect complement especially in the finish. Ambroxan, a fragrance substance I can not stand in most fragrances at all, is here only homeopathically present to stretch the durability of the fragrance & this job it fulfills here extraordinarily well.
Conclusion: My personal favorite aqua. The most authentic implementation of the ocean smell there is.
The special Issey DNA is perceptible at any time, the signature of Alberto also. A fragrance that above all at temperatures of 28 ° C - 40 ° C performs above average & was created exactly for these conditions - in connection with some sweat, he is in my opinion only better & the mixture with this, gives another projection boost! H&S in the first 4-6 hours optimal (1.5 - 2m scent tail) afterwards rather skin close but if you sit for example with someone in a cafe at the table, for the opposite, still perceptible. On clothes he is 2-3 day quite clearly to smell.
Thank you Issey & Master Morillas for this oceanic marvel & of course to my small favorite perfumery which has notified me then as he came out, immediately after receipt of the goods, so that I could acquire 2 flacons of this limited edition.
