Go where the pepper grows
Pepper and another pinch of pepper, oh come a little red pepper that goes so well with the black ..,
I find it incredibly aromatic to smell freshly ground black pepper, it has something warming in the mouth, burns very pleasantly in the finish and has a really wonderful fragrance over warm food. After a good while this pure perfume gets a pinch of zest, the grapefruit holds a short rendezvous. The basis after a good hour is a warming bouquet with a very clear exquisite pepper note. It has a certain presence without being space occupying. Fits in my opinion to ladies and gentlemen, surely rather suitable in the colder season. I think I would use this perfume for layering if a fragrance is too floral or too sweet. He puts a warming coat over it and makes some fragrances more mature and a touch more refined. Since I am a friend of high-quality spices I like this peppered aroma water. Durability is very good because there is a high concentration of scent molecules, slightly oily consistency. The next morning I still had a lightly peppered well-scented trace on my body. But good spices are also quite expensive and this 25 ml perfume has its price, a sprayer is enough, develops its warm aroma over the whole day and lasts really incredibly long. Less is more than good spices. I'd like to go where the pepper grows and try my hand at it....

In the Mini Rainforest
About thirty years ago I learned that rainforests are by no means necessarily gigantic, foggy tropical jungles. I was on a student exchange in Australia and the family wanted to take me on a trip to a "small rainforest" "near" the (subtropical) home town of Brisbane. Whereby "small" as well as "close" are to be understood absolutely from the point of view of an Australian. The corresponding national parks may look puny in comparison to Amazonia, but for a Central European they are quite remarkable in size, certainly in their entirety. The German-language website of the Australian Tourism Authority calls the "Gondwana Rainforests" after all a "huge area".

And the journey took a stroll of one and a half hours, which typically did not (yet) lead through the outback deserts in Australia's coastal hinterland, but could already be of a certain wasteland - at least again for a Central European. And already there applies what can become existential in the Outback. Anyone who looks like they might need help is actively contacted.

And so we drove on a lonely, rather dusty road, when in the distance a figure came into sight, which wandered in our direction along the edge of the road. As I got closer, relevant details gradually became clear and made the eyes of the connoisseur (i.e. mine), who had been suffering in this respect, bigger and bigger: Yellow T-shirt, short blue baggy trousers, white tennis socks, sandals, cotton sun hat. Although the camera with the telephoto lens on its belly was missing (it hung half on its back), it could only be a German. And indeed, the gentleman came from Darmstadt and was glad that someone spoke German in the car, even though he didn't need any help in the end. Coincidences exist...

Where'd I go? Oh yes, the rainforest! Oh no, this is a perfume meeting! I only get to Rainforest because the company Schwarzlose promises us the sparkliness of a rainforest for 'Parfum Captive #3'. We'll see. Very soon, because a few quick words are enough for the scent:

On a musty-woody base a citrus note unfolds that is astonishingly tame for grapefruit. I don't feel much of pepper, the Lord is cryptic. The fruit also remains surprisingly restrained in the course of the process. According to the manufacturer, a natural oil essence was used from the grapefruit. This fits to the oily-shelled habitus, which seems to be slowed down by the wood
Around noon there is a hint of extra peppery spice, which turns out to be wood in the process. It might be artificial, although fortunately it does not smell like a DIY store. Until late in the evening, 'Parfum Captive #3' then offers unobtrusive, elegant freshness in good stability, presumably supported by vetiver, to the rear.

In addition to the above-mentioned slightly musty wooden base, it may be a touch of wateriness on the threshold to flowering that justifies the reference to a rainforest. Courageous I find to call for 25ml of substance 145 Euronen.

I thank Garcon for the rehearsal.

The respectable Mr. Grapefruit
After "Captive #1" is a dream scent for me and "Captive #2" as a mud head version of it was also okay, now comes the third, also peppered scent of the trilogy - "Captive #3". And yet he's moving quite a bit away from his predecessors, which I welcome. There's so much more you can do with pepper. And if you pepper every meal like me, you know it's in good hands here.

This time the pepper mix meets a high-quality grapefruit - a particularly exciting and refreshing mixture. It is definitely the brightest fragrance in the series and reminds us of deodorant, shampoo and shower bath for men - only a thousand times nobler and just stretched with peppercorns. In the beginning, hardly any pepper is noticeable, the luxurious grapefruit dominates and shines, but over time the fragrance, committed to the tradition of the series, becomes more serious and grim and peppery. Altogether a grapefruit with swing in the Pöppes. Energetic, mature, adult. Pretty simple, almost simple when you speak evil, but the combination rocks. It doesn't always have to be complicated. This is portable and very easy going. He prickled in his belly button and hisses directly into the feel-good buzz between his belly and his heart.

Flacon: see remaining captives
Sillage + durability: the softest, most casual temptation of the series - nevertheless 7 hours.

Conclusion: a high-quality grapefruit, rather grey and mixed with increasingly strong pepper splashes - almost sporty, but still noble enough. Can't get to "captive #1" for me, but leaves #2 far behind. Sparkling!

Lost in Indonesia
Captive #3 is now also my last fragrance with which I may conclude the trilogy. This time we're going to the rainforest. Off to the wild.

I choose Indonesia. One of the reasons is that there are almost all chords in their natural form. Mild lampong black pepper, grapefruit and rainforest. Almost 1 million square kilometers. The image of humid, heavy, aromatic air is pushing itself into my head. The spicy-citric start of #3 somehow doesn't open up a green, but a strange picture. He smells unfamiliar. Not uncomfortable.

But contrary to his two other forest brothers (#1) the pepper is most present here and the smell wants to be discovered. Or behaves almost effervescent and somewhat unreal. Below / above all this is a subliminal, woody-milky green. Almost like a coward. Unfruitless and neon green. Like the sun shining through an impenetrable jungle. Everything is bursting with life and yet deadly at the same time.

This theme, the habitat that hardly forgives a mistake, represents Captive #3 to me. He's green. I'm sure it will. A little hot (pepper + ginger). And in every conceivable way also unique. He's not a spa vacation. Not for the nose, either. It's a journey through the rainforest.

Full of contradictions, surprises and beauty in the eye of the traveller. Polarized and fascinating at the same time.
