With flowers in your hair fighting around the campfire
According to the official website, Led IV is a tribute to the song "Going to California" by Led Zeppelin. The name of the perfume is the title of the record on which the song appeared in 1971.
The song was written in Headley Grange, a former poorhouse, which was a well-known recording studio in the south of England in the 60s and 70s. At that time it was a damp wall without heating. Plant and Jimmy Page had been to California before. Laurel Canyon, Los Angeles. Many American musicians lived there in the late 60s and early 70s, among them Joni Mitchell. In Joni Mitchell's house many hippie musicians met for sessions and the like. In "Going to California" she is sung about as "Queen without a King". Plant in particular was fascinated by the hippie culture and by Joni Mitchell. This also explains why "Going to California" is not a rock song, but rather a folk ballad, in whose lyrics I think there are some quotes from well-known hippie songs (I recently heard the Woodstock record when I wrote about "1969"). Plant himself once said that the song was about the days when everything was uncomplicated and people all took off a bit unworldly (or on drugs).
The Led IV perfume smells of oriental, earthy hippie patchouli. Led IV is not for the basement. Rather something for a slightly wooded sunny area, where you can hang out into the tepid night. At the campfire with a guitar and sing some songs. Lalala. A calm, uncomplicated, optimistic fragrance.
I find that Led IV smells like incense in the finish, even if none is indicated. I don't know if it contains incense or if the special combination of fragrances only works like incense.
The Sillage is at least at the beginning quite violent. The shelf life is about 7 hours. I can imagine that you can wear the perfume all year round. Maybe it's a little risky at 40°C, but whatever. Led IV is unisex but at work I would definitely look at scheel when I wear it. Besides, it might have a little bit of fuzz when you deal with people at work. You don't have to be in California to wear Led IV. It is certainly not necessary to have flowers in your hair. Of course, it can't hurt anything, except maybe the flowers.
A small disadvantage of Led IV is that you can't get it here, so you have to order it in Canada and then you can go to customs to pick up the bottle, which is a bit complicated. Therefore I will probably be satisfied with the great rehearsal until the end of time (thanks to the noble donor)
