Great Barbershop Fragrance
I've never been to a barbershop but this fragrance is what I imagine one smells like. Its also what I want more men to smell like. This scent opens strong with the saffron, bergamot, and sage. Its spicy with a bitter citrus, very interesting. As those top notes mellow out, you get a strong green woody note from the fir that is mellowed out with a soap-like scent similar to Irish Spring. I think its the rose and ambergris combining with the fir to make that soap smell. Its very clean, like right you walk into a bathroom right after someone just finished up in the shower. The dry down is a little sweet, little powdery and it lasts a long time. On my skin it lasted about 6 hours and the projection was pretty good for at least 2 of those. Its a 100 euros for 30mL, and I think that is a good deal.

Friends of the 80s, pay attention
For a long time the 80s were musically rather suspect to me. I always thought that there are a lot of good songs from that decade, but sound-wise especially the exaggerated drum reverb and the (from today's point of view) cheap synthie sounds deterred me for a long time. Plus the clothes and hairstyles... But also the 80s are experiencing a revival in music and fashion, and even in the world of (niche) perfumes some styles are being reinterpreted.

Lightweights are probably the fewest fragrances from the 80s, because as gaudy as the fashion colours, as melodramatic and expressive as pop and rock were, there was no lack of dense, often 'oriental' perfumes. Ligno - 'wood' in Esperanto - looks to me like a typical men's fragrance from that time. Comparable (not a fragrance twin!) is Davidoff's Zino, which I owned for two or three months, but sold again because its turgidity got on my nerves. Because this symbiosis of spicy, leathery, anal notes and a certain sweetness quickly gets on my stomach. Ligno, however, seems comparatively more natural and better balanced.

Patchouli is present in all its facets right from the start and at the beginning there are light resinous notes of cistus, some saffron and a green-spicy note, whereby the combination with the moderate sweetness reminds me of Viride by Orto Parisi. So the attack is very strong and complex, but with time Ligno becomes a bit more tame and also much drier, woody, less sweet and gets a stronger leathery facet. I can't perceive rose at any time. Directly on the skin it smells very animalistic - but more pleasant in the air. I have already encountered this slightly human musk note in Maleeh Al Aoud and it is more evident here in the base.

Vanina Muracciole's creation already requires a high tolerance for certain notes, which are likely to be criticised by a large part of the environment. Ligno is also not a fragrance that I would like to wear, but I find it quite interesting and can at least acknowledge its high quality.

Excellent earthy patchouli spiced with saffron and labdanum then ruined by scratchy ambroxan. Great potential squandered.
