An unexpected love?
I’m learning that I’m a big fan of chypre scents. I absolutely adore the combination of florals and fruits, but especially when you add a patchouli or moss note. Even though I’m not crazy about moss, I’m seeing (or smelling rather) that when done right, it can add such beauty and grace to fragrance.

The composition of Honeysuckle & Davana is very simplistic and the scent stays linear from start to finish, but it has a gorgeous depth. The davana is both aromatic and fruity, while the honeysuckle offers the bulk of the white floral/green scent that this has. Then the moss comes in and adds the gentlest touch of earthiness. It’s actually so stunning. I tried this at my friend’s place the other week, and I was shook as I continued to sniff it on my skin throughout the afternoon.

It’s giving effortless beauty, old money, and quiet luxury, and I think it’ll be an absolute stunner in spring/summer heat and for cooler rainy days. Performance isn’t too bad either, especially for a Jo Malone. It’s not a huge projector, but it stays well on the skin for a good 6+ hours and carries beautifully with the wind. I’ll definitely be getting a 30 ml / 1 oz when it gets warmer out.

Sun and fun in a bottle
My first Jo Malone. Sweet, flowery, powdery, inducer of good mood, white flowers, playful, awesome projection and durability. I would recommend to buy the small bottle because one only needs a little quantity for each use. I wear it pretty much all seasons, except the very hot days(it can become cloying). In winter it brings the long desired warmth when applied

Honey plant for spraying on
Hey hey and welcome to a new comment from me. Today we're talking about Jo Malone, a brand I've introduced many times in the past. I like this brand, even though some of its fragrances seem quite simple to me. However, this simplicity is partly also wanted, because you can layer the fragrances, but also on its own some of these fragrances in spite of their simplicity just smell great.

Apart from that, in the Jo Malone area in the shop you could always have a nice chat with the saleswomen (yeah... talking to saleswomen I just get it... *sigh*), unfortunately there's only one guy standing around for months now... argh :(( I always have to have such bad luck... at least this Jo Malone guy doesn't try to make me sniff him like the Dior guy does by spraying himself with the Dior Privée scents and then asking me to sniff him to see how great the scent would be. ARGH again!!! :DD

Well, Honeysuckle & Davana is certainly one of the newer fragrances released last year. Despite my remarks that the fragrance would smell so feminine and even a little insignificant for me, the said gentleman in the department of Jo Malone was so enthusiastic that he constantly tried to convince me how great this fragrance would be... :D

The fragrance:
I smell flowery sweet notes at the beginning. Stupid as I am with flowers, even after more than 1500 comments I still don't know anything about the scents of flowers... :D That's why I don't know exactly which of the indicated plants emits this slightly tart, spicy and distinctive scent, but I'm pretty sure that it should be the Davana. Because beside it there is also a sweet-floral note, the sweetness of which reminds me of honey and this should therefore be the honeysuckle, since I have just read that honeysuckle is supposed to remind me of honey (and nectar).
A few (a few) hours later, it then smells sweet and spicy throughout until the honey-sweet fragrance disappears further and further in the base and the fragrance appears somewhat drier. It smells more bitter in the later base, with hints of earthy patchouli. I think the time has come to spray on the fragrance again, because it comes across to me personally as a little trivial.

Sillage and shelf life:
The Sillage is rather weak and therefore only really smellable from the closest proximity. The shelf life is six to eight hours, after which you can only smell a mild breeze of dry earthy scents.

The bottle:
The bottle is as high quality as ever. It is rectangular with thicker glass and a large white label with a white frame showing the name and logo. The lid is oval round and chrome-plated. All in all, it's nice.

Soo, I already called this fragrance insignificant during the description of the fragrance, but that doesn't mean that it smells bad. I also don't mean that he would smell 0815, because he doesn't smell like any other fragrance and already has a little bit of his distinctive places. It already smells quite nice, but is also kept quite simple. Nevertheless, I think that it should go down well with most ladies, since as we all know, you sweet-toothed people are crazy about honey and the scent radiates a light, beautiful honey-like sweetness without crushing or appearing too heavily spicy. I like it too, but it still didn't knock me out of the stool as much as some other fragrances of this brand. But maybe you can combine it very nicely with other fragrances! And maybe you like him a lot better than me.

But if you don't want to layer the fragrance, it is in itself a loose fragrance, which you could use well in spring and summer, as a nice and good everyday fragrance. Therefore I recommend to try the fragrance, especially now, when the days are getting warmer again.

So, that's it, then. Let's see what else of Jo Malone will appear soon, but I guess I'll have to talk to this guy again instead of with a sweet saleswoman... *sigh* :DD

Have a nice evening. See you next time :)

Summer garden in Bottle
Yesterday I was lucky enough to pick up a bottle from the turquoise at the Malone stand as I passed by. It's not yet on sale, I heard from the salesgirl, but was allowed to test it. Since we haven't discussed it yet, I'll try my hand at it.
I certainly can't pick out the individual notes like many of you here, but I can convey my impression.
I like, especially in summer, flower scents, especially when they are somewhat natural, that's also the reason why I liked Malone, I say consciously, I liked, because the last creations didn't really carry me along. Here, fortunately, things are a little different again.
The fragrance is indeed very natural, flowery, don't say: flowery, because it has a certain lightness that makes it fit well into the summer. Without a well-known citric prelude, I experience it fresh. Honeysuckle, honeysuckle smells wonderfully lush, almost a bit tropical, a plant of it grows in front of my window. In this respect, the scent actually seems to be captured here. Now Davana is also supposed to be in there, no idea, so Wikipedia makes an effort: Paleleaved mugwort. Well, mugwort from the kitchen, I know, is not exactly a fragrant herb that would go well with a floral scent. But the description calls a woody-sweet smell, also: warm Mango smell, which does not change now the honeysuckle blatantly. In fact, if you know it, you can imagine mango, a slight fruitiness is there anyway.
I really like the prelude best, because the fragrance seems light and permeable without being banal. Then it becomes greener, one would say here, the stems and leaves were added, which makes it a bit more angular. At this stage also wearable by men, which I would not say for the prelude. After that the fragrance does not change very much. There should be moss in the base, but those who expect oak moss or even something chypry are wrong here, the scent just gets a little warmer. Very pleasant, slight sweetness, but not excessive. A beautiful summer scent, with which you certainly won't get angry and which you like to smell on a woman. However, over time it loses some of its naturalness and becomes flatter.
In between I thought about APOM, but it's even higher quality, more in depth. Not a twin, though.
Durability not bad at all, with me over 4 hours, which is with me much, then only with the nose at the skin perceptible. I can only appreciate Sillage, but as expected, I'm not knocking anybody down.
Conclusion: finally a Malone again, which I enjoyed, even if he won't move in with me now.

Those around me immediately said it was like honeysuckle, very authentic. Good quality and projection. Very feminine, not so unisex.
