Boozy, Leathery & *Unisex* (No Matter What They Say)
This is fabulous! Even though Pavillion Rouge is marketed for men, I was very comfortable wearing it, and I think a lot of other women would be just as comfortable as I.
The opening is spicy, boozy wonderfulness. I think it's the sesame rounding out the boozy notes, although I don't get a lot of obvious sesame. I love
spicy rum notes, but I enjoyed the rum and whiskey combo in PR. I am not always a fan of whiskey notes on me. They usually come off a bit sharp, or I smell like I spilled a drink all over myself. In PR, the whiskey/rum combo is beautifully done.
The boozy accord remains for a while as the heart notes come to the fore, and the fragrance becomes a little sweeter. Leather definitely dominates here, at least on me, and it is well-supported by a sweet tobacco and tea. The tea helps keep the scent from becoming too heavy. I don't get a lot of coffee, just a slight touch of bitterness, which balances everything.
I liked the drydown more than I was expecting, as I've not have much luck with ebony, but in PR, it's really good and combines beautifully with the Benzoin and Vanilla.
This lasts a long time, at least 8 -9 hours. The projection is approximately arm's length for most of that time. It does fade in the final couple of hours, but I still had a very pleasant scent-bubble. It is pricey, but it's also one of the best liquor & leather scents I've tested. If this is a scent profile you like, this is worth a try.
