eau de canned mandarin
Kenzo's Le Monde est Beau is a funny little fragrance. It's citrusy and metallic, calming and energizing.
Nowadays, citrus fruits and juices are available in the US in glass jars, juiceboxes, or cans with a plastic (BPA!) liner. But they used to be sold only in unlined tin cans. I thought the metallic taste of the can was part of the good flavor of the canned grapefruit juice my mom would put in my lunch or the chilled canned mandarin orange sections she would serve for dessert.
After much thought, I've realized the odd but lovely note that springs out at me from Le Monde est Beau - it's mandarin oranges in a cold tin can. And so it joins my personal pantheon of childhood smells!
