Cozy tatami night
Tatami mats are thin, woven mats made from rice straw.
Sounds uncomfortable? Certainly not!
"Nuit Tatami" is reminiscent of the Japanese art of living, finding perfection in seemingly simple things.
The very idea of depicting this "Nuit Tatami" - a night on tatami mats - in a fragrance confirms this. I find the fragrance extremely sophisticated - it has a story.
The fragrance begins slightly "steamy", very well-groomed. I also notice the pink pepper very subtly, but it does the fragrance good. It plays together with the incredibly addictive, but incredibly subtle, clean, by no means too sweet vanilla note.
You can hardly speak of sillage, the fragrance is very restrained, almost intimate. But that doesn't bother me - I think it actually goes very well with "Nuit Tatami".
The fragrance is very successful - a homage to the Japanese way of life.
I can well imagine settling down on your futon on the tatami mats after a long evening and slowly drifting off into the world of dreams in the subtle, steamy fragrance.
