Smoky lime on light leather.
September 2019 I was in Dubai for a few days, 42 degrees Celsius in the shade. I figured only in air-conditioned rooms would I be able to stand it during the day. Then I took the hotel shuttle bus to the Mall of Dubai, right next to the Burj Khalifa Tower.
When I arrived there, the first thing I did was to walk to the Rasasi shop and sniff some scents. The salesman said there was a bigger shop on the perfume floor of the mall. When I heard "Parfum Etage" I could not hold on any longer, and wobbled there without detours.
One stop I had to make. In a large aisle there were several stands with different products, including a Khaltat stand. I hadn't heard of them before. Oud chips were burned and it smelled heavenly oriental. Since I didn't want to smell the whole assortment and I didn't want to have a typical oud scent, I asked the nice saleswoman if there was a leather scent in the collection. She affirmed and said that this "Fik'r" was quite new and contained leather. Of course I had to smile a bit when I heard the name ;-) Fik'r means love in Ethiopian, and is from the series "Blends of Love" All fragrances are called love in different languages. I sprayed it on my hand and then walked on to the perfume floor.
What can I say, KaDeWe in Berlin is nothing against it. From every niche manufacturer to the great designers to the Arabic perfumes, everything is there and also a little bit overwhelming. I smelled some things, but Fik'r did not stop flirting with me ;-) After an hour I walked back to the Khaltat stand and bought it.
Now finally to the fragrance: For my nose it smells like lime peel smoked by exotic woods on light suede. A very slightly animal note, the whole thing nice and dry and unsweet. I'd say African-inspired. I'd put him in the league of Tuscan Leather. Imagine the raspberry of TL is replaced by a light, warm and smoky lime. I've never smelled anything like it.
Great fragrance and very good H/S, it is a perfume and comes in a 65ml bottle.
